I dont know much about Eno but do you think hes the right man to take Coldplay into a whole new untouched paradise of music. What if he over exagerated everything and all the music they have made isnt as good as said but incredibly rubbish. Or do you think this is where Coldplay are are going to be Rock Legends up there with the Greatest????

I think Eno can only be good for the band. I mean, they were all 100% sure he was the person they needed for this new album to lead them to the path they were looking for. And I don't think he will over exagerate things 'cause the guys know what they want and can always say 'no this is no good..'

I kinda trust him because they do so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be GREAT! well, at least I hope..

I've listened to several interviews he's done, and he has a lot of very good very interesting things to say. He approaches this stuff like real A R T and he seems to be the person to get a group out of a rut.

 

And people who work with him seem to come up with THEIR best from working with him. (Joshua Tree, anyone?)

I've been wondering who that music is by for ages, I love it! It's used on a TV advert in the UK for the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

I'm trying to mesh the two images in me noggin'. OK - I guess that would work! Funny, how some music goes without title, and winds up in places one never expected to hear it!

I think hes the right guy for Coldplay.They always talk about experimenting with new things and from the sounds of it it sounds like Eno is pushing the boys to try new things.I think this album will be there experiment album.And who better then to experiement with then Eno?And plus the U2 albums he has produced were big albums for them so I think this will be Coldplays best yet!!

I didnt really know anything about him, in fact nothing at all, until I heard Chris Martin talking about with great respect and admiration for the various work he during the X & Y tour. Hes actually a quite well published author and 'thinker'. After I heard about his involvement on LP4 I was a bit wary until I did some further reading on him and listened to some of his music which is amazing.

IMO Eno will steer the group away from being a rock, or strictly rock, group, which I believe is a good thing.

For the record I would take Eno over Timbaland anytime. Especially if Coldplay are to make step up from mainstream FM rockish pop (not MO but this IMO is the preception of them in the wider community) to something truly great and versitile, a step i hope they make.

Eno is great, Coldplay is great I hope the mix will be fantastic!

i've listened to may of the albums that eno's done (unknowingly at the time--in retrospect after hearing that he's doing LP4, i realized that he's worked with U2 etc), but because i don't know much about the finer points of music and music recording, i still don't fully grasp the role of a producer, and i don't even know where to begin to look for their fingerprints on an album. for example, george martin did almost all of the beatles records, yet they all sound so incredibly different that i dont see where a common thread could be.

 

i figure he's good for the band and for the album, but i'm only really basing that on what other people say. i'm just terrified in general that they've been hyping it up so much, saying that it's "epic" and "the album to remember them by" and the best thing theyve ever done, and that i'll either be let down because i wont think that its better than anything theyve ever done and it wont change my life like AROBTTH and parachutes did (much like X&Y was a slight let-down), or that i just plain won't be a fan of the new direction theyre going in. i'm such a fan of the old coldplay that even though i know they need to evolve, i'm afraid that i wont like what they ultimately evolve into. i think these fears would still exist for me regardless of who the producer is.

i think eno is good for coldplay, cause they needed a change and brian is the precise for them. So we've wait the staff

Just listened to the intro for the Mexico City 2003 gig, I didn't know that Coldplay played "An Ending (Ascent)" by Eno before their gigs back in 2003 (the track that Space Cadet posted earlier on). Going slightly off topic, but what else was played before they came on back then?
