So I guess I could have posted this in the 'what grinds your gears' thread but this is more of a story, so uh.. here goes.

Well as a lot of you know I cut my hair really short a few days ago for many reasons, cause I thought it looked cute, cause I was tired of my hair and everybody looking the same, and cause my ends were pretty badly damaged. Today was the first day I came to school with the new haircut. I knew people probably wouldn't like it and would just be pretty neutral about it (I don't know, people in my school don't like change ) and that guys would hate it cause guys are just guys and for some reason like girls with superlong hair. None of that bothered me cause I like it, my friends like it, it's much more fashionable and i don't really care what people think. Anyway ...to the thing that really pissed me off. So all the boys and everyone came up and were like "ohh Anna you look great, cute, nice haircut, blahdiblahdiblah." So I obviously said "yeah yeah thanks w/e."

But then, when they went totheir own classrooms for homeroom, behind my back, they talk about how they hate it and how it looks terrible and how it makes me look 'less hot' or whatever words they use. Anyway I don't care about their opinions but 1, you don't say these things straight to my best friend's face (which was the case), 2, things in our school REALLY get around, so if you say anything about anyone, they WILL know. 3, If you don't like it, DON'T LIE TO MY FACE ABOUT IT. Just don't say anything!! And this one guy, he's sooo two faced!! he's sooo nice to me and such a suck up all the time but is terrible to me behind my back!

Anyway ... I feel like i've just been barfed on a million times and then thrown in a dumpster full of dog poo. Honestly. I can't believe what terrible terrible people I have to live with. They don't offend me, no, but I'm sad for them and how stupid they are. And I'm fed up with how fucking FAKE they are.

I completely understand, Anna. Middle school boys are just like that. You have a right to be angry, but don't show it. Sometimes, that's just what they want. They want you to be worked up and angry, so you will change for them. Don't give them the satisfaction, and if they ever act two-faced like that again, insult them politely. Show you are better than them. Show them that you are doing things for yourself, not for their fucking sake.

Yess exactly. I never showed a single emotion. I think I acted very cool about it actually, just gave em a bit of cold shoulder but not too much. they're starting to realize they've done wrong i think...

That's good, you did the right thing. ;)

I have quite a temper, and I know from experience that showing your emotions and crying is what they expect. As long as you keep your head up high, they'll realize that you are better than that and that you don't care.

ugh, i hate teenagers and gossip. why did they have to lie about it?! you're right, they just shouldnt have said anything. if you like it, then that's all that matters, and anyone that truly matters will either like it because it looks kick-ass (i havent seen it yet, but i bet it does :D) or they will like it because you do and because you can pull it off.

that's good that theyre starting to see they were jerks about it. people would often mock me for things i did (though usually little things, like taking notes in class with magic markers) and i would just keep on doing them to defy them. i think youre taking the right course of action!

one of my friends had a similar situation last year when she gave herself bangs and they...werent very good bangs. people wouldnt shut up about them, but i told them to shove it up their asses because it wasnt their hair. eventually people got used to the change. eventually, everyone will LOVE your hair, i bet.

I partially blame those stupid-ass teen reality shows on MTV....kids now think they should act like that. >.<

i cant believe people actually watch those shows. i think it goes way beyond being funny and entertaining to laugh at how ridiculous those people are and it just gets me angry and cynical about our generation. i can hardly even watch MTV. whatever happened to being MUSIC television?!

I haven't watched it in years...

And when they do play music, most of it is shit. The 5% of good music played is only to gain some indie cred.

there used to be this great channel called VH1 MegaHits (VH1 and MTV are owned by the same people, i'm pretty sure)...it was like channel 721 or something and it played only music videos, and ONLY rock ones. that channel got me into coldplay, the strokes, death cab for cutie...all the bands i can't live without now. if it wasnt for that channel, i would never have been this obsessed with coldplay.

and yet, they took it off the air because it wasnt what people wanted to see. they rather see bitchy girls having catfights and ridiculous contests that have nothing to do with music and everything to do with the worst of american culture.

Sometimes I just hate being an American teenager....

...oh wait, I always do!

unfortunately, i'll probably be mistaken for a teenager for years to come, because i look about 12 years old. so i might be out of college and have a good job, and ill still be carded at bars and at R-rated movies...

I especially hate the stereotypes that go along with being an american teenager, like we're stupid, trashy, etc. And a lot of us are though, and considering all those shows I'm not surprised where people are getting it from.

I look like I'm 12, too! And it sucks, because I'll never be taken seriously.

I look pretty old for my age but people still don't take me seriously!!!!!!

I just want to find someone that will just see what I have to offer before they judge me from the way I look...:disappointed:

if the three of us are any proof, all american teenagers are NOT stupid or trashy.

i think me being short and having a round face makes me look really young. once i start talking, i think most people begin to take me seriously, but i had an office job during my semester off and people would look at me like i was some kid that broke into the office and was playacting that i worked there. and patients either thought i was some kid or had the gary coleman disease.
