why do some people listen to "simple music"?

It's hard to broaden your musical horizon if you don't put some time and effort into finding music you might really like.

I'm sure that there are whole lots of bands that I don't know but would really love. You don't discover those bands by listening to the radio or watch MTV, because that's always the same: music that is liked by lots of people.

Mariah Carey has more #1 singles on the charts than Elvis, and is second to only The Beatles. Yet, this doesn't mean she's a better artist than Elvis

Some people will only accept the music played for them over the radio, any-other music they haven't got a clue

yeah, then they say "hey! that song was nice, dont you think?"

i mean how cant it be nice, the radio just play it for 10 or 20 times a day for advertising :(

Because the people that follow mainstream culture have been sort of trained to do so. The radio plays what they see fit and people are forced to follow, even if the music is really simple.

If you're sick of the mainstream chart crapdoodle out there at the minute I would recommend listening to Zane Lowe and Colin Murray on BBC Radio1 of an evening....(If you are already a keen listener then grinning-smiley-003.gif good on ye!)

They're both superb when it comes to introducing new music to the masses :D
