Hmm... I don't think he meant it in a bad way, he was talking about how their and coldplay's influences are very similar, and yes he did say there are worse bands to be compared to, because as he explained, theyre not all die-hard Coldplay fans. He even says when Coldplay first came out, his music would have fallen into the same category.

Nothing to get too worked up about, it's not like they said outright that Coldplay are 'shit'. So, take it easy. ;)

Yeah i know thanks but i hate people who put Coldplay down you know, and for what because they make emotional songs and not loud like those tennage spotty,hormone mad punk bands. All this hatred is uncalled for because there is so much. It should be aimed at the shit bands who have come out recently who really shouldnt be getting the music recongnition they have. Talking about Coldplay sound alikes, our local radio station's dj's had finished playing a Mat Kearney song (breathe in, breathe out) and they were joking around how much Mat sounded like CM and that because people are sick of waiting for Coldplays album to come out that Mat decided to sound like them and do it for Coldplay instead and then they started going on about other bands that sound Coldplayish , just about wet myself laughing listening to these clowns on the radio :laugh3::laugh3: :laugh3::laugh3: :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

I've only heard on 1republic song, and I neither loved it nor hated it, so I'm not going to weigh in on the 'do they suck?' debate, but...

 

WHen a band gets compared to another band, they are sometimes considered unoriginal, which can really be hurtful to musicians who've worked hard to write and record their music. The guy probably resented that (as would I, and you know I love Coldplay), and was speaking out of frustration. remember Keane hating it too? And they're friends of the band. IT's just artistic frustration talking.

 

It's the idiot jounalists who make these comparisons in the first place who are to blame. IF they don't know what they're talking about, they should just shut the fuck up! (but yeah, some of them are quite comical.).

Where does all your hatred come from? I love both bands and I find their music awesome. I don't think you can compare them though - OneRepublic has just become known and Coldplay has been recording songs for a few years. But don't disrespect any of them!
