I'm bumping this thread up with an observation.

 

I was watching the VH1 Storytellers for the first time after a long time, and Jonny was telling the story behind "The Scientist". Anyone else notice Chris and Jonny staring intensely at each other during the whole thing? As my friend who was watching it with me so eloquently put it: "They're undressing eachother with their eyes." :laugh3: It really was quite intense though. And after Jonny was done, Chris hesitated and just stared at Jonny almost concernedly before starting the song. Also, it seems that The Scientist was written by both Chris and Jonny. :)

 

I don't know... I felt like I was being told a romantic story by one of my friends. That may be a bit extreme, but it's just what I observed. :D

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble...and feel free to ignore this...but I've been in a band on and off for 13 years with another hetero-sexual female...no romantic connections whatsoever...she and I have shared many years on the road and on stage, and that creates a deep and intimate bond. I have photos of us on stage staring intently at one another!!! We've even hugged and kissed in public! It's an old cliche that a band is like a marriage, but it's true, and as any married ppl on the board will attest, long-term marriages don't involve sex either...LOL!!!

I have no doubt that spending almost 365 days with the same three people would seem a bit like a odd marriage in any band, not just Coldplay, but, in my mind, and I think everyone elses', we're just continually amazed and heartened by the tight bond that Chris and Jonny share. I follow many other bands very closely and I have never seen a relationship quite like Chris and Jonny's, in the music world or otherwise. It's simply appealing.

 

I have no doubt that they love their wives/girlfriends very much and are in no way sexually invovled with one another, it's just simple fun.

 

But thanks for being nice about it. Sometimes we get the odd troller who totally get out of hand with it. :)

I'd never be anything but nice about it...I have a couple of friends who go way to far with the concept and make it very UN-FUN...they're not on the board, thank God! However ppl want to read it, it is one of the most special bonds in music. I figured I had to weigh in on this thread just once...but in a humourous way!!

yea i have never seen a close bond between two band members like chris n johnny. i dont even see friendships like that in public. its something special they have, but its not sexual.:laugh3:
