"Hey Man, Slow Down"

É um facto que este blog tem estado adormecido durante este 2009 ainda tão jovem e cheio de promessas, mas era inevitável. Depois de uma tour gigantesca, centenas de momentos e pessoas, o zunido nos ouvidos, as viagens intermináveis, milhares de palavras, ecrãs e tecnologia, nada como um retorno ao analógico em todas as suas formas.

 

Recupero o prazer dos dedos no piano, o som das cordas à frente da minha cara. O cruzamento improvável de todo o tipo de pedais de guitarra. O som seco do ukelele em oposição ao grito agudo do cavaquinho. As máquinas de ritmos da década de 70 e 80. O xilofone que esteve guardado num sotão de uma senhora numa cidade inglesa e que agora martelo suavemente depois de um leilão competitivo online.

 

O cheiro do fixador e as molas para prender os negativos. As quantidades e as temperaturas. A ausência completa de luz, uma tesoura e um tanque. Como andar de bicicleta.

 

E para quem gosta deste acontecimento industrial chamado Dia dos Namorados, aqui fica uma foto com o espírito da coisa.

No rain in Spain

Amanhã partirei para Espanha numa mini-digressão de concertos e promoção. Quatro meses depois das primeiras apresentações do disco “Dreams In Colour” no país vizinho, volto para 3 concertos em clubes emblemáticos das cidades escolhidas: Madrid (12 Março, Sala Heineken), Barcelona (13 de Março, Bikini) e Terrassa (14 de Março, Faktoria D’Arts). Se estiverem perto, apareçam e façam a festa connosco!

 

Desta vez vou tentar manter-vos a par de todas as aventuras da digressão através do Twitter, esse sistema do demo que parece a todos encantar e seduzir. Como é improvável que tenha tempo para manter este blog actualizado, esta é uma maneira de levar-vos aos bastidores desta tour de forma simples e, literalmente, imediata.

 

O Twitter irá depois seguir-me para Austin para a minha 3ª participação no festival South by Southwest. Já me torno um frequentador habitual desta tasca musical do Texas onde cerca de 2000 (sim, duas mil) bandas de todo o mundo se juntam para uma grande festa. Este ano a presença portuguesa está garantida com nomes como Clã, Rita Redshoes (que vai tocar comigo no showcase), The Legendary Tigerman e Nicole Eitner. Não vou fazer um videoblog desta vez, mas o Twitter será muito mais interactivo e será interessante comunicar online a partir dos sítios onde as coisas estão a acontecer. É quase como uma Polaroid, mas com menos tempo de espera e sem abananços desnecessários.

 

E agora vou voltar aos ensaios!

from his comments on his twitter, seems he is working on the next album. :idea2: as he has mentioned he has been listening artists like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jeff Buckley... so artist we know that influence him. :D

In Dreams

Tive um sonho estranho ontem. Passava-se numa sala escura habitada por caras desconhecidas, tudo num tom granuloso e misterioso. No meio de incógnitos, o Billy Idol sentava-se numa mesa com uma loura e o Kris Kristofferson largava uma sonora gargalhada. À frente deles, um palco pequeno albergava uma série de músicos, posicionados de forma clássica, quase simétrica. De um lado, o Tom Waits e a KD Lang. Do outro, o Bruce Springsteen e o Elvis Costello. E no centro, uma figura estranha cantava como só os anjos sabem fazer.

well he is yet launching his work abroad Portugal (has played in Spain, Greece and Italy already, but just few gigs, well where he has played more abroad Portugal is Spain (5 times)).

let's hope he goes to play to US too.

Por mais vezes que já tenha passado por aqui, este é sempre um dia fabuloso na minha vida musical. Entrar no estúdio é uma espécie de ritual que me leva para outro momento da minha vida, o início de uma aventura ainda vaga e fugidia. Arrumar os instrumentos em caixas para voltar a desencaixá-los noutro sítio, longe de tudo e de todos. As mil ideias e emoções que atravessaram a minha cabeça, corpo e coração prestes a serem agarradas sob alguma forma musical, a concretização de tudo o que, até agora, era algo abstracto a habitar a minha pessoa.

 

Começo hoje a gravar o sucessor de “Dreams In Colour”, um misto de medo e entusiasmo embrulhado em canções e sequências de acordes. Desta vez vou para estúdio apenas com o meu produtor, Nélson Carvalho, e vou gravar as novas canções de forma um pouco diferente do disco anterior. Nos próximos dias estarei agarrado a todo o tipo de instrumentos musicais e máquinas cujo prazo parece ter passado há muito, na esperança de encontrar aquilo que procuro. Não terei muito tempo para actualizar este blog, mas poderão acompanhar o processo através do Twitter.

E agora vou desaparecer na bruma do estúdio, um grande abraço a todos!

He is working on the next album, says it will be a bit different as the previous one, as he is looking for new sounds (and machines/instruments i guess).

so he is recording the new album, that hopefully will be released next october, tomorrow the first single will be released on his site for free.

Whic I know he asked for people to join him in the recording of it last 22 july in leiria. :)

(btw seems the album yet have no title :\ )

 

the interview also says that there will be more digital announcements soon

also he is looking for his work to be launches abroad Portugal.

he is recording since a month ago, is taking a small break and will go back on studio next august to finish the recording.

 

as often he as recorded all instuments played by himself, like drum and bass and has used some more new instruments, he reveals he will use an atari computer for some distortions on this album.

 

he don't clarify if there will be some featured artist on the album or not.

 

he finds good to keep contact with his fans, on twitter and his blog and also after concerts (he don't mention his board as he hardly ever post there, but we know he reads it often ;) )

 

he once more mentions he is hyperactive :thinking: and that if he quits music he'll become a photographer, so is looking for some projects on that area and also in cinema.
