zsub
they just said the album is "different" but did not say weather it was good or not. This is disappointing.

Mimixxx
The two that Ian posted are gags, people taking the piss. :)Ā There's no reviews cos no-one has heard it yet...well except for Rolling Stone and they like it :P
zsub
exactly im talking about the rolling stone and billboard ones. they said one song was really good but they just said the other ones were different. Chris martin said it would be the best album. Also the lyrics should be about things other than love.

winigwl
no one has said it was bad either. these aren't album reviews. they are just letting us know a bit about the style change
alyssa
Don't think Rolling Stone would be in the right place to judge the album yet.
TraceOddity
Just ignore the reviews. Even if everyone in the press said it was shite, it might still be something you really love. ApproximatelyInfinite
^exactly. no commerical music magazine in their right mind would bash an album before it even is released, that's just terrible. it would prevent people from bothering to buy it, and they would have many bands banging down their doors. Ā i don't care that none of the mags have passed judgement on it yet. i want to wait and make my OWN call on it before i read any legit review or even talk to the people on here. BostonSportsTD
ok well i don't think that there is no chance this could be a really good album but... i do see what zsub is saying. i feel like if the album really WAS amazing the articles would say it... something like THIS IS DEFINATELY COLDPLAYS BEST WORK TO DATE... however that said i think it still COULD be coldplays best album, it just scares me a litttttle that there have been no real POSITIVE reactions from those who have heard it. RunForTheHills
Well said chelsea.Ā I don't think any reviews at this stage are even meant to go into detail about what's good, what's bad and what's different. And remember, the Rolling Stone article was written BEFORE the tracklisting was even released, so really they were only analysing individual songs and NOT the album. So that doesn't even count. As for the Billboard one, they seemed to be focusing on how the songs sounded stylistically, and not what they thought about it. It was almost like they were giving an update on the band's progress, it was formal. If you're waiting for a proper review from them, or anyone else, wait until June 16th (or a couple of weeks leading up to release perhaps, if we're lucky). I mean, the tracklisting has only JUST been released, so give it time.Ā As for me, I'm making up my own mind about the album when I hear it, thank you very much. Even if threads start popping up here stating how crap they think it is, its not going to deter me from listening and enjoying.Ā PATIENCE!

Ā all the same, i do wonder what the "professional" critics will say about the album, regardless of what i think about it. i remember being so in love with X&Y that the mild reviews it got in most venues bugged me. my violent passion for X&Y faded in the coming lights as i delved further and further into their previous work, but i must say that i kind of ended up agreeing with the critics. i wonder if that will end up happenning with VLV. though i hope like hell that it'll get incredible reviews from the get-go for many reasons. ricardo
don't worry, as others have said magazines can't said this is fucking awesome ! or this is disgusting! because the album is not even released yet. You can't trust the media...just judge for yourself and don't panic.:)Ā Great point, Ive seen some reviews that absolutely trash X&Y, saying it is sellout music and that Coldplay lost their touch. ?????? Do you believe that just cuz a couple brain dead reviewers said so?
winigwl
these aren't reviews. they are just narratives/updates about the album. completely different

XaSa
I'm not sure if it's 100% right but I read they meant to have a kind of trilogy with three previous releases and the new one was going to have kind of ''electronic'' (mind the quotes) turn ... anyone heard about that?? ... I'll look for the source to share it ..
