ooooooh The Cure and Joy Division are great too :D So are New Order. The thing with 80's music is, that there were so many terrific bands about, but at the other end of the scale there was a lot of forgettable crap about too. I s'pose the same goes for today too :)

im trying to get into 60s,70s,and 80s music a lot bc i honestly cant see them playing alot of the crap thats out now in 20 years(and yes i do mean crap for the most part) i want something solid and classic that will always be around..although i can see coldplay being played later on..i think they have a solid element to them

I've never been a big Stranglers fan :/ The Smiths RULE! :D I love them too much

What no Stone Roses? Their debut was only one of the best records of the 1980's! Fool's Gold, I Am The Resurrection, I Wanna Be Adored, She Bangs The Drums... I don't believe that they had so many top notch songs on one album.

 

Joy Division also kicked ass, and New Order continued its legacy but in a different direction.

 

The Smiths were great indie rock pioneers... How Soon Is Now!!!

 

The La's! Here She Goes is younger than I am, yet its one of those sing-along songs with a timeless feel to it...

 

And of course there was U2 and REM at their creative heights...

U2 by far, real far.
