A SAD FEELING :-(

OK, so I hear a lot about Radiohead.

I haven't heard them. Are they good? Is what I just asked blasphemes?

lawl, you're thinking way too hard about this I think

You'll grow to love it I bet anyway.

You can't just love songs based on the feeling you get while listening to them! You gotta get to know them... like people. <3

If one goes straight from coldplay to radiohead they might just bounce off you, but once I took time to let their music soak in I started to love them. I'm not a die-hard radiohead fan like some people on this board, but they're about my 3rd fave and I think they're essential hearing for anybody. OK computer might be the best album of the late 90s.

I'd start with the bends and slowly work your way up through OK. Kid A might be their least accessible album. It's great, don't get me wrong but it takes some getting used to. their latest album "in rainbows" is my opinion is also brilliant.

Start slow though, OK computer is their most highly reknowned and is(arguably) probably their best.

I think eventually theyll return to their original formula, but maybe not for a few more albums. Just remember, new songs can't take away the old ones. Personally I disagree with you, I find Fix You and Swallowed in the Sea just as riveting as Yellow or Clocks. But those songs will always be around, and if you're a true fan, theyll never get old and you can listen to them forever.

Thanks, I will now definitely! ooo i can't wait. :lock:

i like the new sound better....they had to change

yeah same here. i think a change in sound is definitely interesting and exciting to me.

i love Coldplay's established sound but branching is just as lovely to me.

i just can't wait to hear the finished product.

Sure they had to change , its the nature , thats normal . I don`t critisize anything . Art is Art . And i don`t miss another shiver , trouble or clocks-style . I miss the Kick, its only a thought , maybe the became to rich and to satisfied to write breathtakin songs near by souls from the street or somethin like that ^^ ´( only jokin )

I am not the only one who feels like that.

I dont miss any old style exactly .

I miss this Suprise full of power and morphine :)

Ok i heard only Violet Hill ( would be a good Greys Anatomy Soundtrack)

and A Spell....

And i heard it many times and i can only say Good / very Good / ok

They grow older and change yea , but maybe to fast ^^ for some of us

greetings from the sunny Germany

The Live versions are always better(my side of view) and he puts all his feeling in then... so dont be sad. ;)

so far so good with the new sound, they have to evolve for they would probably go mad! I am looking forward to the new album, I have no expectations for it, as I didn't for 'Violet Hill', if you have expectations you usually are disappointed.

I totally understand what the German guy is saying, and Hotplay007 too. I think we share the same sentiment.

I think we should make a distinction between "different sounding" and "different style". Different sounding means Brian Eno is producing and they're using instruments from all over the world - this, in my view, is an excellent decision. I love bands and music that use sounds from the middle east, africa, etc.

What I'm sensing is there may be a different tract being taken by Chris with regard to songwriting style. I didn't detect a musical "hook" in Violet Hill or ASARY like we get in most other Coldplay songs. It's these hooks that Chris is especially adept at discovering and exploiting, and that lead to the emotional connection with a song. Just pounding on instruments really hard doesn't get you there. Think of what Politik would be like without that amazing transition to piano and falsetto where Chris sings "oh give me love over..." it would be a very plain song. Like Violet Hill.

But I'm not worried yet. I will reserve judgment until I hear the whole album. This isn't a scathing attack on Coldplay, it's just something a few fans of their music have noticed and are temporarily saddened by.

Drama queen/king much? We've only heard two songs. One of them was a B-side.

violet hill its like the gpasuyf of viva la vida (i like both) i think. they change their formula, better wait to listen the album or two maybe. i think this is gonna be their best album so far.
