Viva La Vida = Famous Old Painters???

Featured Replies

I noticed no one else is saying it so I will. Viva La Vida is definitaley Famous Old Painters, and this is the song that Coldplay said they re-wrote with a different name. It has all the descriptions of Famous Old Painters (big band instruments, Spanish theme) and I expect Coldplay to officially announce it soon. What do you think?

There is a picture with writing on a piano and it has Famous Old Painters and Viva la Vida on it, seperately.

Viva la Vida under Rainy Day.

But this doesn't have to mean anything and you could still be right though.

I love that pic. I just grinned when I saw it on NME's site.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with this one. I don't think it's the re-written song at all. THe lyrics have little or nothing to do with the title, imo. I hope we do find out soon though.

All those arrows make me suspicious. Plus, if this picture was taken a while ago, they could have written Famous Old Painters under that name, but knew they would have a title track called Viva La Vida. Then maybe they just decided to put Famous Old Painters under that name in order to have a title track.

I know, its all a big conspiracy!!!:D:D

Good point!

I think the song that was done all over again is 42!

And Famous Old Painters will be a B-Side some day! or will be a track of "Death And All His Friends"!!!

I've been thinking this ever since they posted the actual tracklisting last month, but the tracks-on-the-piano picture is interesting evidence to the contrary. Plus, look at the NME article. McMahon writes how Famous Old Painters and Glass of Water never made the album. As someone whose heard the album and was talking with the band, wouldn't he mention if FOP had been converted to VLV?

Regardless, I doubt they'll formally announce it. (And I hope we hear FOP, if it's a different entity).

Whatever, this is still like Christmas morning what with songs dropping from the sky and all...way better than the X&Y drop...

NOOOOO! I REALLY want 42! I've been curious about that track since the title first came out. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just hope you are. 42's a 3-part song, according to the band, so it's not as likely to be the one rebuilt from scratch, imo.

^No, it was redone a while ago (assuming it is 42) and now is the 3 part song weve been reading about. Dont worry, 42 is gonna be fine.

I'm starting to change my mind...Im re-looking at the prospekt entry, and it mentions French horns, a different third verse. I think maybe I was wrong. Im just desperate to hear Famous Old Painters...

Oh well, I guess the conspiracy is over! Back to waiting for it to be released as a b-side!

your completly wrong it CLEARLY says in the NME article that they left out "glass of water" and Famous old painters" off the album those songs were ANTHEMS is what they siad so the left it out maybe they'll be B- Sides

Haha, looks like you guys beat me to it. I prepared this pic earlier to reinforce the theory:

And I can definitely see "... vida" at the bottom there, proving that its not only the album title but also a separate track.

What's that word left of Prospekt's March?

I think the song that was done all over again is 42!

Thought it was Lost! Apparently it was "drastically reinvented" in the final stages which included replacing the beat

Just noticed, there's Prospekts March/Poppy Fields and Postcards From Far Away/Chinese Sleep Chant. We know it's now Yes/Chinese Sleep Chant but what about Prospekts March/Poppy Fields? Another double track?
