January 29, 201313 yr ---MGMT Get Even Wilder on Synth-Heavy Third Album--- *Duo say their new LP is on track for a June release* But rather than retreating, MGMT are getting even weirder on their follow-up, tentatively due out in June. Instead of using their live band, as they did on Congratulations, the core duo recorded alone, cherry-picking the best parts of their free-form jams to construct tracks that reflect the Aphex Twin and house records they've been listening to lately. Says Goldwasser, "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it. - Rolling Stone News, NEWS, actual NEWS!!

MGMT is out September 17 via Columbia Records. Earlier this year, the duo told Rolling Stone that their upcoming album was recorded as a duo-- not with a full band like on 2010's Congratulations. The album was recorded at producer Dave Fridmann's Tarbox Road Studios in upstate New York. http://pitchfork.com/news/49849-mgmt-announce-self-titled-new-album/
