Conscientes de su situación Coldplay han dado pasos adelante, pasos atrás, pasos hacia los lados (de hecho, miran hacia Estados Unidos más que nunca). Sus nuevas canciones son similares, pero distintas, y mantienen una suerte de coherencia que las anuda unas a otras más allá de sus particularidades. Grabado en Londres, Barcelona y New York, y producido por Brian Eno y Markus Dravs, en él Coldplay parecen evitar a toda costa sonar tan melosos como en tiempos. Así, en piezas como “42” o “Death And All His Friends” se permiten empezar lánguidos, para dar un pequeño vuelco a la canción y alejarse de la idea de balada (que jamás han conformado lo mejor de su repertorio). Y es que los mejores momentos que firman los británicos son aquellos en los que buscan nuevos caminos (necesarios a estas alturas, por otra parte) para su fórmula: las guitarras de “Violet Hill” –una pieza que gana con las escuchas-, la melodía a lo The Animals de “Cemeteries Of London”, el inicio y el cierre del disco con un sonido cien por cien Sigur Rós, el tema titular con unas cuerdas entre Michael Nyman y Final Fantasy (¿está presente Owen Pallett?), las baterías de “Strawberry Swing” o “Yes”, que combina slides, cuerdas y una segunda parte que es puro My Bloody Valentine. Eso sí, se mantiene el aroma Coldplay y esas evidentes reminiscencias a U2 o incluso The Waterboys en “Lovers In Japan”/”Reign Of Love”. Aware of their situation Coldplay have taken steps forward, steps back, steps sideways (in fact, look to the United States more than ever). His new songs are similar, but distinct, and maintain a kind of consistency that ties each other beyond their particularities. Recorded in London, Barcelona and New York, and produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, Coldplay seem to avoid it at all costs are so in times like honey. Thus, in pieces like "42" or "Death And All His Friends" are allowed to begin lánguidos, to give a small overturning the song and move away from the idea ballad (which have never formed the best of his repertoire). And that is the best time to sign the British are those who seek new avenues (necessary at this stage, moreover) to its formula: the guitars of "Violet Hill"-a piece that wins-with eavesdropping, to the tune of The Animals "Cemeteries Of London", the opening and closing the disc with a sound one hundred percent Sigur Rós, the subject holder with a rope between Michael Nyman and Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett is this?), batteries "Strawberry Swing" or "Yes", which combines slides, rope and a second part that is pure My Bloody Valentine. Well the review sounds positive (from what I can make out... the translation is a bit odd), but I don't know, that part about taking steps back is slightly worrying. But I like the fact that the record hangs together well, despite the song's differences. Still though, and I'm not sure whether I was just being too wishful, but I was kinda hoping everyone would be blown away by this album. As they said though, they only reviewed it after a few listens. That may have something to do with it. At the end of the day though, if its better than X&Y, I'm happy. But I'm secretly hoping for a masterpiece... VLV, Lost, LIT and VH seems to be very good initial signs.

Great signature, by the way. That's funny cause in the world of videogames, it seems like everything that comes out nowadays is a perfect 10/10.
