(Ian, that's totally not me up there. phishface is a terrible name) So, if you don't care so much [about Coldplay], then why'd you sign up here? obviously you do EDIT: their name is Coldplay, not Cold play. Wow...you self righteous defenders of the insecure are sure quick on the draw. Aren't you late for a "Female Teenage Angst Club" meeting, or is that what Coldplay concerts are for in the good ol' USandA? This guy is a troll, and doesn't like Coldplay....get over it.

June 14, 200817 yr Im having trouble understanding why this band has creates all this reverence i dont usually bother adding content to forums im not interested in but why are you so overwhelemed by such a dull band. Dont get me wrong i've had my cold play moments , V 2001(i think) they had less than 500 people in the crowd and yellow was superb outshining other band on at the same time. Please spend your time and valued money searching out less tired and more exiting music and forget the hype. Cold play maybe great for when your cat,dog or nan dies but its lowbrow and selfindulgent. And he called his child APPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!! With Coldplay, you either love them or you don't. But their music does take a dedicated listener to appreciate, yeah on the first couple of listens most of their stuff will sound dull, it sounded dull to me, and it sounded dull to my sister. But she stopped after the first couple of times, but I gave it another shot, and the more I listened the more I began to appreciate the music, the melodies, the lyrics etc... Coldplay are not like pop music in that it's not instantly catchy, sure there are some songs that are but most of their stuff does take a while to get. But unlike songs that are instantly catchy, they never get old to me, I have listened to them so much and still ain't bored of the songs. Coldplay are NOT solely for people with "troubled" lives, people who are overly sensitive or people who have love and lost (I have experienced neither). What attracts people like myself to them is that despite their size, they are able to make it seem as if the song is written for you and you alone. In other words they can be very personal (not so much with their newer stuff though). But the music in general is very beautiful, like the melody at the end of Politik, the riff and vocals in Clocks and In My Place, the laid back melody but serious content of Trouble. Then there is Chris Martin's voice, which again is like no other and sounds very personal and emotional at the same time, yearning in Yellow, begging at the end of In My Place, and somewhat sad in Trouble. He is able to transfer a large range of emotions through the music with his vocals, unlike most other music where vocalists either get across anger (often times not so convincingly) or sadness (also often very fake and forced). But this is one place where many are divided on Coldplay, you either like Martin's voice or you don't, personally I think it's one of the best in the business. Finally the band itself is so down to earth, modest, and polite that well they become role models for younger kids and appeal to a large range of age groups, including both older and younger folk like myself. They don't fit in the rock cliche, aren't womanizers, drug and alcohol addicts, heavy partiers, have tattoos everywhere and smash their instruments at the end of their performances. Instead they stand up for what they believe in, genuine issues, and aren't afraid to do so. So those are just some of the few reasons why I like Coldplay. I can tell you haven't really listened to them though, which is a big mistake when it comes to judging this band. If you want to truly understand why they are so popular then you need to get a hold of all their albums, and listen to them thoroughly before you decide. The stuff you hear on the radio are catchy, but not their best. BTW I have to add that just because they are my and many others' favorite band, it doesn't mean they're the only thing we listen to. I love discovering new music, and listen to a ton of other stuff too. But few have been as timeless or as high quality as Coldplay. But hey, most of America is into Lil'wayne at the moment, and Fergie and Flo-Rida, that stuff is absolute trash and most of the bashing needs to be directed there.
