Bob Marley believed you could cure racism and hate by injecting music into peoples soul!

 

What do you think? Personally i think he was onto something there. Music is a powerful thing and that his idea isnt impossible. As some people know music can fix people when they are very depressed or low.

Well, Chris Martin did say in an interview with Spin magazine: "No, but it'll probably save the world. I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but I'd be surprised if it didn't put an end to all violence and all suffering." (on Viva la Vida).

 

So you never know. Chris is at least positive about music having an effect on certain issues. :D

I would say listening to music from a genre of a culture a person doesn't like is a very good way to break through stereotypes about that culture. But it can be a tough sell because a person's feelings of hate for a group usually carry over to that group's music as well. They are often not willing to give that music a chance. It almost has to happen by accident or a sneak approach. So I would say Marley's idea can work, but it has to be a powerful work of music to transcend cultures traditionally in conflict.

That was quite possibly the scariest movie ever... although I loved that little bit in it. Bob Marley is so inspirational. :)

It is indeed a powerful thing music. And I love Marley's theory. I'm all for it. Marley's music is awesome as well. You just turn it on and drift away lol.

When you really think about it, many of the greatest musicians ever were or are gay. Elton John, The Village People, and a whole bunch of other artists! I just think it doesn't matter what the person's persuasion is, but their ability to convey life's experiences in such depth and with such soul - their music is enjoyed by millions, so is Coldplay's, and so what's the big deal??

Yea i saw that the other day hence the post :), and it was a line i remebered and kept thinking about.
