I_saw_sparks_87
Haha funny little story i found "It's okay to call your kid Chewbacca", says Chris Martin 11/07/2008 8:20:00 AM Coldplay frontman Chris Martin (father to Apple and Moses) has defended his wacky taste in kid's names, saying that even Chewbacca is an alright name for your kid. Love it! In an interview with Blender magazine, Chris reckons the fuss over naming babies is ridiculous - names are just noises you make with your mouth, anyway. "People make a big fuss over names," he says. "Names of babies, names of albums, names of bands. "There’s nothing weird about calling your baby Chewbacca if that’s what you want to call your baby. It’s no stranger than Sarah." Would you rather call your baby Sarah or Chewbacca? Screw tradition - we're going Star Wars all the way! Cris_Santos
Press people love making things look worse than they are. Chris didn't come up with this name from nowhere. He'd answered this after being asked a really stupid question (Blender magazine). "My husband and I are expecting our first baby, and we’ve got the name narrowed down to Papaya, Chewbacca and Sandal. Can you help us pick? SandyMartin, Austin, TX I’m not sure this person is serious, but why can’t you have all three? P.C.S. Martin? That’d be classic. People make a big fuss over names. Names of babies, names of albums, names of bands. There’s nothing weird about calling your baby Chewbacca if that’s what you want to call your baby. It’s no stranger than Sarah. A name is just a noise, and if you like it, then fuck what everyone else says."

bellynelly
I don't think the parents think about how the kid will feel having an unusual name, esp. in celebrity terms when they are treated different because of who their parents are. Pile more pressure on why don't ya? I just hope that the kids with the weird names have got a tough skin, either that or mummy and daddy to splash the dough. StephBerryman
Apple is a beautiful name! There's an interview with Gwyneth in which she says that people name their daughters after flowers/plants like 'Rose', 'Ivy', and 'Daisy', but what's so weird about naming your child after a fruit? I agree with her.
monicka
I just remembered the Gwyneth interview with Jonathan Ross where he asks her about the kids' names. And Gwyneth was like "It's not like calling a little girl "Sh*thouse"!" LOL Woman has a point. The name "Apple" seems to suit her.
