August 8, 200817 yr Just heard that they will in fact be playing @ Gilette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on October 29th.... Not sure if this has been announced anywhere else on the forum. Season ticket holders were just made aware of this today... Kelly
August 8, 200817 yr KELLY YOUMADE MY DAY! :-D THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE INFO! Is that oct. 29, 2008 0r 2009? -Jesse- Edit - I dont see any info on Gilette Stadium's website though.
August 8, 200817 yr AWSOME,:laugh3::D:) I wonder when they will relase more info about it. nothing on coldplay.com or gillettestadium.com. Are you sure this is fact? -Jesse-
August 8, 200817 yr Author Well, I am not a season ticket holder myself, but I did talk to someone who is and they gave me the info. I am sure we will hear about it soon. I did get something from pollsta.rcom saying they added a show at Giant Stadium in either Oct or Nov so it just stands to reason the the info I have is correct.
August 8, 200817 yr Well i hope the info is correct :) even if it isnt it is something to get excited about, because i know eventualy they are bound to play there. ;) -Jesse-
August 8, 200817 yr Coldplay Gillette stadium? ? ? ? ^ That'd be cool if they came back to Boston sooner than we expected! But why would you want Coldplay to play such a HUGE place like Gillette stadium? That's roughly 70,000 people!!! I think it's incredible that they're playing big arenas like TD Banknorth (about 15,000 people) and MSG as it is. ....i don't know what to think. it's just that it would super difficult to get good seats..and the show might be less intimate. I hope they don't solely play stadiums if they come back to the US in 2009 like Dave Holmes kind of hinted in an interview.....:\ Don't get me wrong, it would still be UBER COOL! But it's on a bloody wednesday.... darn school.... grrrrr...
August 8, 200817 yr I see your point... But COLDPLAY does have the habit of making a BIG place feel small. :) I was sort of a distance from the stage on monday night and i felt like i was RIGHT THERE in the middle of everything. :) -Jesse-
August 8, 200817 yr HOLY SHIT IF THAT IS 2008 then its only 2 months away!!!!!!! i might just have to fly back up from VA again! good thing i have family in boston, and a family member that is a season ticket holder for the stadium! WHY THE FRAK DOES IT HAVE TO BE ON A WEDNESDAY? school..coldplay...school..coldplay....i think i'll go with COLDPLAY =)
August 8, 200817 yr Author God I hope the info I got was right! Not only did I get myself hyped up, but quite a few of you. Hopefully they'll announce it soon!!!!! Kelly
August 8, 200817 yr i promise not to go on an anger rampage if the info turns out to be false! ;D but that would be SOOOOO COOL! can you imagine "Fix You" with 70,000 people singing along? HOLY CRAP! and if not, there's always NJ, which i'm still on the lookout for...*crosses fingers*
August 8, 200817 yr Author My info on Giants Stadium was wrong......I thought it was the football stadium, but its just a 2nd night on 10/27/08 in Jersey.....I'm all befuddled now. I'll try to get more info on Foxboro and report back!!!
August 9, 200817 yr I kind of doubt this is true... As cool as It would be to see Coldplay do a stadium show, it seems a bit close to the preposed date for details not to be confirmed yet. I remember when My dad's company had a box at the UC in Chicago just after it opened, and they got a lot of notice's for events that never actually ended up happening.
August 9, 200817 yr Im vouching for Kelly on this one: If the rumor ISNT true please dont eat her alive :laugh3: But lets all hope it is. -Jesse- EDIT - Theres a chance it could be very true because Gillette Stadium's website has no events planed on October 29 which leaves the date open.
August 9, 200817 yr It's a blank spot on Coldplay's tour schedule as well. (and the location's of the shows before and after the rumored date make a show in that general area a geographic possibility...) Perhaps, they're playing a single stadium date to see if there's enough demand for gigs of that scale?
August 9, 200817 yr I really have no interest in seeing them in a stadium of that size. I just feel that no matter how good a band is theres just a limit to the experience you can have in a venue that big. You might as well pop in the CD at home for all your gonna see if you end up in the nose bleed seats there. I really don't understand why bands like it at all. I get that theres probably an initial thrill of looking out at all those faces, but if your really thinking about the quality of the show experience you've got to know it cant be as good in that big of a setting. I go to a show to feel involved in the music experience, thats really not possible when the band look like ants from your seat.
August 9, 200817 yr That's a common opinion, and a valid one. However, for me as a fan the concert going experience can be good at a stadium gig if the band perform well. When I saw the Stones at Soldier Field, I was as far back as it was possible to be, yet the raw energy and noise from the packed stadium made for a very electric atmosphere. Then there are bands like U2 that use Stadium gigs to put on productions of such massive scale that they really couldn't be held anywhere else. Anyway with the Horrid sightlines in most modern indoor arena's you are essentially blind in vast areas of the upper seating anyway, so IMHO there's actually not that much difference being far away in a stadium. Most of the time you're watching the gig on a screen anyway.
August 9, 200817 yr Yeah, there are people who would be willing to go to a concert no matter what seats they get. Haven't you ever seen a band playing in a sports-arena with people sitting behind the band? Ive seen it at MSG where the fans look at the band's backs the whole time but they still go for the concert experience.
August 9, 200817 yr Does this mean they might come back to MSG? Z100 has MSG down for Nov 1st:rolleyes:
August 9, 200817 yr it could go either way. the 27th October IZOD show isn't on Coldplay.com but tickets have been sold for it!!
August 9, 200817 yr that is making me nuts!!!! i have my reciept for the tix but it's not on the website yet. arrgghhhhhhh:rolleyes: I have a contact at MSG and trying to get him to confirm it

August 9, 200817 yr "Sounds like a U2 concert" Except that a U2 show is one of the few arena shows where the people behind the stage can actually see the band. That's why they're the modern masters of stage design.
