10 reasons Coldplay should be more respected than they are
This. I'm sorry but lately their music has been anything but respect worthy. And yes I know I will get flack for saying so, but it doesn't change the facts.

Live 2003 vs Live 2012
2003 for sure. Felt more personal and real.Too much flash/ not enough substance in the new one.

Coldplay nominated for 2 Grammy Awards (Best Rock Performance/Best Rock Album)
I love this band, but this album simply wasn't up to snuff in my opinion. I don't see a win happening, and I don't really feel they deserve it...

PoC video
Yuck, but I didn't expect any better so... whatever I'm over it, its sad but this is their music now.

Coldplay @ BRIT Awards 2012 (Tues 21st Feb, O2 Arena, London) // Charlie Brown performance, MX album
I'll probably get stoned for this, but I think he looks old because he's too thin right now. It makes his face look gaunt and I usually associate that with men getting older. If he put on just a couple pounds I think it would work wonders.

your fav coldplay tour

Charlie Brown Music Videos (Live & Studio - both videos in first post)
utterly awful. I think this might be it for me, unfortunately I don't think there's any coming back from this for them. I would except better from a teen age band on their first record, frankly this video is embarrassing.

[Review] NME Rates Mylo Xyloto 5/10 [Scan added Pg. 3]
I agree with the overall rating, but the review itself, not so much. It always annoys me when I come away from a review feeling the author has more against the band as individuals than the music they produce.

Princess of China: Worst Coldplay song ever?
I cant because there isn't one. Heck even if I was Rhianna I would be upset, its like he saved his crappiest song ever for his first duet.
-
Princess Of China, next single!
I knew from the moment they announced the collaboration it would be a single. Really there would be no other point in creating a song with a prominent pop star who has a radically different style from there own if not to capture her audience. Thoroughly disappointing but totally expected.

[Review] musicology.com 2.5/5
I have nothing to add. This review 100% captures how I feel. And yes, this album did indeed break my heart.

Princess of China: Worst Coldplay song ever?
For me, without a doubt, POC is the worst song this band has ever produced.

The 'Thank you Brian Eno for ruining a potentially brilliant album' Thread
I may not like Eno's style, but if we are all honest here, it is the bands fault and the bands fault alone. They are old enough to make up their own minds, and this is what THEY chose to produce, though it breaks my heart to have to accept that.

Rate 'Moving To Mars' now!
I'm giving it a 7/10 but 7.5 is more accurate. Its definitely the best thing I've heard from them in quite awhile. There are a few issues that keep it from a full 8. I find that transition in style in the middle of the song a little less smooth than I would like, but better than the one on 42. I'm not totally digging the super low pitch of Chris's voice in the beginning, but still FAR better than the distorted mess from MM. At this point I just have no idea what direction this album is going to be headed in. It really feels like they are attempting every style of music they can think of. Time will tell if I shall enjoy the result of their experimentation.

Lyrics discussion (and poll)
So far I find these lyrics the most promising of the songs I've heard, so that's something!

Rate 'Major Minus' now!
Well after SEVERAL listens I'm ready to rate. I gave it a 5/10. Its drastically better than Every tear drop, but its by no means perfect. I'm with most people on the voice distortion thing. Its unnecessary, Chris has an amazing voice and this effect simply adds nothing to the song, resulting in the live version being much more powerful. I enjoy the eerie vibe of the song, but once again heavy handed production gets in the way. And yes Eno's stamp is all over this. Its one thing for a producer to encourage a band to try new things, its another to just flat out make it sound like the producer had a hand in writing the song, and his influence, for me anyway, is getting old. Overall much better than the last song, but really that's not saying too much, so I'm going to have to wait to hear MTM.

Major Minus: Studio v Live?
Not ready to rate the song in general yet, but I can say definitively that live version is better for lack of vocal treatment if nothing else.
-
Coldplay: Greatest downfall in the history of music?
Agree!

The 'negative' ETIAW discussion
I cannot even begin to express how tired I am of that! A song is either good or bad, it is not based on the season in which it is released! A song cannot be good in summer and a piece of crap in winter, it is not possible people.
