Uni in France is "free".. so that's a plus. It's pretty good, classes and everything. BUT I dont recommend it.. people are always on strike, and it sometimes lasts several months ril you can go back to normal class.

I've seen many students from abroad wasting a year here because of that.

In Europe, there's this program called Erasmus which allows European students to go and study everywhere in Europe, and all is free.

I dont know about Us students though.. I think so. I know that if I wanna go study in an uni in the US which is affiliated with my uni here, I do not have to pay what you guys have to pay.

About the study visas, I actually have no idea.. but I would imagine that the visa they get in the first place is quite extended in time, as you may sometimes stay one/two months after the end of the last semester to re take exams you failed. But yeah I'm sure they would extend it even more if the strike caused visa problems.
