September 4, 200817 yr What do you do when you have trouble sleeping? I usually drink something warm, like tea or hot chocolate, that seems to help. But lately I have a lot on my mind and I can't sleep. I can't seem to turn my brain off. Got any tips?
September 4, 200817 yr I often have trouble sleeping myself, and find that relaxation/hypnosis CDs work great for me. Also a few drops of relaxing essential oils on your pillow work wonders! :)
September 4, 200817 yr I don't get/need much sleep so I just tend to stay up until I'm sleepy, I don't try and force it. If I have to get up early the next day then so be it. It just means I'll probably get more sleep the following night.
September 4, 200817 yr Since school started, I'm cutting down my intake of caffeine and sweets, so I don't get too much of the extra energy during the night. Hmmmmmm, I also try not to take naps as well, though that can be difficult. Staying warm always helps though, as you said! :nice:

It just means I'll probably get more sleep the following night. That is exactly the same as me! I hate attempting to sleep if I'm thinking about it too much.
September 4, 200817 yr i can't sleep lately either. i think it's school. i usually take a couple asprin and have some warm milk. that helps, usually. :P
September 5, 200817 yr I usually listen to X&Y (the album, not the song) really quietly in the background. :)

September 5, 200817 yr When I have trouble sleeping I have trouble sleeping, no shit. I seriously have not slept well since late June and the repetitive dreams of Chris :bigcry:

September 5, 200817 yr Some of the above do help ! Like relaxation music, sounds of the sea work wonderfully, otherwise X&Y is calmest emotionnally indeed, aspirine helps the blood flow and relaxes, I use it too, warm milk yes, or chocolate milk. And (lavendel) drops on your pillow like Pete says, or even lavendel oil massage of feet and hands (this one is great). No caffein after 15:00 improves things too. Although I avoid medicine since they tend to make me slow the next day. I also lay my left hand on my heart center, in the middle between your breasts, and relax until it works. The more practice, the faster sleep comes. Let the thoughts pass by like clouds in the sky, without judging them or clinging onto them. If possible imagine a beautiful scene of your choice. A little prayer or mantra, does wonders too, as a ritual. :flutterby: I also often just dont worry about it and come here on the board for a moment, whatever the time of night, and usually after 30 mn I feel much more relaxed :) I sincerely hope applying any combination of the above will help you BlackChickInTheBack :flutterby:
September 6, 200817 yr And some of the above don't... music doesn't help for the sharp-minded, warm milk only works temporarily and not judging or clinging to thoughts is harder than it sounds
September 6, 200817 yr True unfortunately, and like I said, practising and ritualising (make a little habit) play a role. And also trust. :flutterby: You can off course look for calming herbal teas. Obviously one can also learn meditative exercices with someone to help. There are non medicinal solutions and they are within your reach !. It does not mean no time or effort. But actually I was nicely surprised by sound of the sea relaxation records and lavendel oil. Each person can hopefully find what best suit them. :)
September 6, 200817 yr I always have problems with sleeping, it's so bad. But I don't do much about it, either I listen to music or I just make myself sleep, even though that doesnt work.
