Violet
I've heard of him before, but I've never actually listened to his music. Isn't he a minimalist of sorts?

Tnspieler1012
^that was great! I haven't really listened to too much Philip Glass. any other pieces you recommend? The other movements of his solo piano c.d. (should be under related videos for the one I just linked you to) are similar but different and equally haunting. Here's a more active one from his soundtrack for 'the hours'. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FniHgiyaTY&feature=related]YouTube- philip glass: the hours[/ame] Though his piano pieces are his most accessible, he might be more famous for his innovations in repetitive, somewhat mathematical music, especially for organ. Here's a taste of his first major work, and opera called 'einstein on the beach'. the_gloaming09
I really liked that one from the hours... very beautiufl, but haunting too the second one (einstein on the beach)... i'm not so sure that I liked it that much. I like how they have people counting sort of showing how the measures work. The song "prophecies" sounds very familular... ahh i just researched it and it was in "Koyaanisqatsi"... I remember seeing that in one of my animation classes i found that john cage piece funny in that the whole piece is just silence... and then everyone starts to clap...lol
Tnspieler1012
Not to sound pretentious, but it is pretty interesting all the way through. I like how everyone holds their cough until right between movements.

Ambergris
I know Yann Tiersen is not classical... but this song reminds of of the minimalist beauty of Satie's compositions (yeah, I know Satie isn't classical either). I would argue that Satie is classical, no less than debussy, unless you're just referring to the time period between the baroque and romantic movements.
