Barack Obama's core belief

Featured Replies

Barack Obama's core belief is that we belong not to ourselves, but to government. We are tools that the government is free to use to bring about what Obama calls "economic justice." The fruits of our labor belong to government ... and government can do with them what it pleases.

Now if this is your philosophy, then vote for this guy. Then every time you draw a paycheck why don't you drop him a line and ask him how much of it you can keep to care for your family and plan for your own future and how much he would like to have to redistribute to someone who sat on their butt while you were busting yours. After all, you voted for him.

Right, because everyone who makes less than $250,000 per year does so because they sit on their butt. These people and anyone poorer are that way because they are lazy no doubt. It's impossible for anyone to have just run across hard times.

And by the way, the only people who will be taxed more are those wealthy enough that they don't need that extra money to "care for your family and plan for your own future". Anyone who really needs a break so that they can have money for their family/future make less than $250,000, and will therefore get a tax BREAK.

Try thinking logically before believing all the crap the Republican party is throwing around about Obama.

And FYI, Bill Clinton's tax plan from '93-'01 was almost exactly the same as Obama's, but did anyone call him a socialist? Did anyone accuse him of just taking money from hard-working people and giving it to "lazy" people?

2732 can you tell me how Obama has helped people in the past?

No one supporting Obama can say what good he has done. But I can tell you about the poor he's screwed over to get his friends more rich.

That does not sound like Hope to me, just more corruption.

FYI Bill Clinton cut welfare down to 2 years, Clinton was a very moderate president.

Oh and I'm waiting for you or someone to say next 100,000 a year is rich and they need more taxes taken out. My parents are barely making it by even though they make together a 100,000 a year because of medical bills.

Also, businesses will flee America even more if they are taxed more. We'll see jobs and money leave America at a even faster pace then it is now. No one will drive the economy or innovative thinking when they're rewarmed with higher taxes.

Yes, he has restored my hope that American politics are not doomed. He is to me what my parents constantly say JFK was to them. They gave them hope that the future would be better, and Obama has given me this same hope. I don't care what you say about him screwing over poor people, becuase I just don't believe Obama is a bad or corrupt man. Read Dreams From My Father and tell me he is a truly corrupt man. No one who was corrupt or selfish could write things like that. So please, not for me, but as a favor to yourself, pick the book up and enlighten yourself to the TRUE Barack Obama.

First of all, Obama would be giving your parents a tax break, his plan (no matter what Joe Biden has stupidly said) is to only tax higher on people making over $250,000 per year.

And second, you don't know how the economy will react, no one does. It's just speculation. What we do know is that we have been under Bush's economic plans for the past 8 years, and we are currently on the verge of economic breakdown worldwide. So we might as well try a different plan, becuase the current one obviously isn't working.

Barack Obama SUCKS!

That's REAL constructive. You're just making a fool of yourself by saying that.:dozey:

Because he speaks well, he cannot be corrupt? Horrible logic!

Hope is useless when it does nothing, it's very short term hope.

Still waiting for proof of him helping people.....All i've seen IS the true Obama, him screwing over the poor to help his rich friends.

Obama's book proves he's all talk, but when it comes time to live up to his words or do good, he chooses his rich corrupt business friends instead.

If you're not a complete pessimist, you can tell a lot about a person based on what they write. Someone corrupt cannot write so deeply and so truly about the things Obama wrote about. Please, please, please, just read the book, or even a part of it, and tell me you still fell the same.

Please, where is all this corrupt business-men stuff coming from. Give me some proof!

It's not a question of who can afford to pay taxes, it's the absurdity of punishing success, that it's unfair to have more money than someone else. I could go on and explain how this redistribution of the wealth corresponds with socialist ideas, but beyond that, this is not what our economy needs right now. With huge income and capital gains* tax hikes for companies that will ultimately hurt employees and consumers.

Look I'm not a millionaire, and I'm sure Obama's cuts may benefit me initially, but I try to think of more than my own checkbook (something many people don't look beyond)...

Are you suggesting that without taxes, nobody would help these people voluntarily?

People tip waiters and give to charity even though they know there are other people who never do...

Words are cheap, and you think smooth talking replaces action.

Tony Rezko. Obama got him a deal for "low income housing" and Rezko made millions. But what Obama fails to mention is the housing is some of the worst in the nation where sewage backs up in the sinks and there is no heating in the winter. They received 11 points out of 100 on the government grading scale.

But Obama did not care, he let his friend make MILLIONS while the people he said he was serving lived in 3rd world standard housing. Don't worry though, Obama got a house from Rezko and hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to him.

Those millions of government dollars could have gone to better housing for the people, instead it went into Rezko's pockets, and through gift's and donations into Obamas.

Talk is cheap, ask the people living in sewage.

Indeed, and what irks me is the propaganda of how agreeing to higher taxes makes one a kind, charitable, neighborly citizen.

could you go sit in a corner for a while or something? you're not exactly helping...

It's not punishing success, that idea is just ludicrous. It's merely using your brain to realize richer people can AFFORD to pay a little more than poorer people. And how can you say it will hurt the economy? Continuing to tax the middle class will lead more people into poverty. Less people spending money on products leads to businesses failing. Businesses failing leads to a collapsed economy. It's simple, if you're willing to open your eyes to it.

Look, I'm not going to pretend all rich people are greedy, I know that's not true. But the past 8 years have PROVED to us that putting more money into rich people's hands doesn't translate to more jobs. Most of these people who benefit from Bush/McCain's tax plans will just take that money for themselves, not invest it in more jobs.

Oh, you're really making your case here. I don't have time for this kind of talk, if you wanna talk politics, please stay. If not, please leave and we can talk about Coldplay some other time.

Im not trying to make a case...all i im doing is expressing what i feel and think!!

I've yet to see you make a case for Obama 2732. All you can point out is how well he speaks, not what he has done.

Back up what you say.

Well how is what you're saying any different than when someone comes along and says "Coldplay sucks and they're all gay!"? It's not constructive, it's annoying, and it just makes the person saying it look ridiculous. Look, this isn't personal, I like you, but please say something worth-while or leave us alone because I want to talk politics.

Well I'm sorry I'm debating like 5 people alone here and I can only type so fast.

Like I have said, Obama's ability to inspire people and give us hope is what he has done. Okay, maybe he hasn't done anything great to change the world, but what has McCain done? It's not like supporting a 3rd party condidate will help, so you pretty much have to choose a side, and I believe Obama is "the lesser of two evils" if you will.

2732, you need to quit reading Obama books and learn about the importance of capital accumulation in an economy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_(economics)

This is why we need an upper-class. By shifting money away from the upper-classes and spreading it among the lower classes, you are moving money out of savings (capital accumulation) and toward consumer spending.

Remember that the current economic crisis was driven by depleted savings (in banks). Banks don't have money to lend out because Americans' savings rate is typically only 3 or 4%. Consumption is what got us into this mess.

I don't just say all I know from Obama books, I do other research too you know;)

I know about Capital Accumulation, and I also know that we've been doing it that way for 8 years. And by the way, the economy was already in a long recession before the banks screwed everything up. A lot of that is also due to war expenses. Paying to build equipment that gets blown up and has no return value causes an economy to suffer.

Funny how you could when you were defending Obama wish bullshit.

Asked a serious question and you just stall.

Then just say he's the lesser of 2 EVILS, not the great hope and a saint. You say he's great but when asked to back that up you just say he's, a lesser evil.

If you have no proof of what he says, then why believe it with such ferocity?

Pick, he's either a evil but a lesser one, or the great hope and savior of America? You seem to change your stance when it fits your argument....you're like Obama!
