Epidemic at my school =[

Featured Replies

So there's some sort of horrendous disease going around my school. Out of 64 people in my grade, only 3 people came to school today. (and that's just my grade.) Everyone else is battling constant vomiting, diarrhea, major nausea, weakness and fever (including myself). The county health department and physicians who examined people say it's a 'norovirus,' a really unpleasant but not lifethreatening thing. The only bad thing is that it's EXTREMELY contagious. We're not sure why it started and it doesn't seem to be food poisoning from the cafeteria...I think they're gonna close school tomorrow because nobody's gonna come again!

I slept for 13 hours straight in the night, waking up to throw up and go to the bathroom once in a while but unable to do anything else. I also slept for another 4 hours or so in the day.... and i'm still sleepy and headachey and reaaaaally nauseous. I haven't eaten anything besides four or five saltine crackers for over 24 hours...

so yeah this really sucks. rant over.

Oh my gosh! That sounds really serious!:stunned:

I hope you feel better!!:) We've had mono going around our school for about 2 months and I'd say about a good 1/4 of the school has it or had it.. but this sounds way worse!

eeeks. My friends(neighbors) went to a family reunion.. their lil cousin had noravirus.. and it just spread to all of them. Kimberly, my friend, said it spread really fast. by the end of the night about half her family was puking.

Sounds dreadful though, hope you get well soon.

Bah, our school gets COLDS traveling around... every winter and early spring... I went home early because I've got one now, really nasty because every time there's a severe cold thing going around I get it first...

Gosh that's awful, i'm surprised they didn't shut the school earlier. Some people may be spreading the germs without having the illness themselves. While the schools open, they're just going to keep passing it around.

Get well soon, take care!

Ah yay I'm feeling much better today. I still feel like I slept through some sort of apocalypse because I was out for such a long time, and I didn't go to school today, but I think I'll be catching up on some homework so I'm ready to go back tomorrow.

Phew!!! I am SO glad that it's over. They did a big story on our local news channel about it and one of my non-sick friends was in it for a second haha.

WOAH! :shocked2:

Oh yeah, the Norovirus, we always have it around this time now in Germany. Everybody gets sick for a few days and then it's over. Surprisingly I never got it, yay

Great that you're doing better now:)

I read somewhere that this virus is only dangerous for old people and little children...

Anna, so sorry to hear you were sick, that sounds scary, hope you feel better.

ah that sounds horribel. Hope you and your class mates feel better soon...:)

there was a similar thing going on at my old school some years ago...bt it was only in one grade...I think only 5 people out of 60 came to school

I'm glad you feel better today! It has to be a horrible virus if the whole school got it. :stunned:

* holds out bucket *

Aww so nice. :P

I'm glad you are feeling better, Anna! That sounded horrible!

This summer I had a kid throw up in a bucket i was holding. It was disgusting, yet so funny to me, i was laughing my head off the whole time.

The local news channel is making an insanely huge deal out of this. They tried to interrogate my also sick friend who lives across the street from school but she shut the door in their face. She says they didn't leave for a while though and they got some other parents to talk to them :P

(Haha we always stay home for Halloween - not because of it but because of a cultural holiday, if that makes sense)

Also, I think they're making a too huge deal out of it. It is worrying what happened, but interviews?!

Yeah it's pretty loony. Every local news I turn on, it's us us us! We were even on ABC 7 (which is national)!! :stunned:
