Rangers fired Tom Renney and assistant coach Perry Pearn.... there is a God!!

.... maybe our power play will actually get better......

Even if it doesn't... you'll get some good entertainment from Torts. ;)

They need Joe back!

Well thats not their only problem. Losing Liles to injury doesn't help either....or having Raycroft and Budaj as your goalies.

Haha true and before those 2 they had probably the most inconsistent goalie in the league.

Jose Theodore, you just don't feel safe with him in net.

Haha yeah. I love Jose when he was doing good on Montreal. But it was so smart for Gainey to dump him and his $6m contract when he got to Montreal a few years back.

And about the Rangers, I'm not so sure that all this firing of coaches at this point is going to change teams that much. But I think Torts is a good guy to bring in and right the ship. He's one of my favourite coaches. I love how he speaks his mind and doesn't just say the usual BS.

I had the privledge of meeting him in Halifax last year after the US lost in the quarterfinals. He was very very friendly, taking pics with those of us there and chatting it up. Considering the crushing loss in OT, he was very nice.

Remember back in the Roy days, he was my favorite player back then.

God I hope the Panthers win tonight. It's funny how you guys that live in Canada probably have every single game on TV while where I am from I'll be happy if I see 10 regular season games on TV all year.

Haha yeah, the Panthers have been on tv quite a bit when they're playing the Canadian teams.

My favourite Panther of all time has to be John Vanbiesbrouck. And I loved when they used to throw the rats on the ice after goals. I loved how Roy wouldn't hide in his net like most goalies, he would just take it.

Even though he never lived up to his expectations Pavel Bure was my favorite Panther back in the day, just because he was awesome in video games I use to play as a kid, lol. :D

John Vanbiesbrouck is the only NHL player to have all 5 vowels in his last name.

For some reason I remember that from a NHL facts book my brother had when I was a kid.

Penguins send Ryan Whitney to Ducks for Chris Kunitz, Eric Tangradi

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins are adding some forward depth to their lineup.

Chris Kunitz and prospect Eric Tangradi are heading to Pittsburgh from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Ryan Whitney.

It's not a typical deadline deal because Kunitz and Whitney both have long-term contracts.

Kunitz is in the first year of a US$14.9-million, four-year deal. Whitney is in the second season of a $24-million, six-year contract.

The 29-year-old Kunitz will likely see time on Sidney Crosby's wing once he joins the Penguins. He was part of Anaheim's Stanley Cup team in 2007 and has 35 points (16-19) in 62 games this season.

Whitney missed the start of the year with a foot injury and has struggled in his return, putting up 13 points (2-11) in 28 games.

He provides some insurance for the Ducks with the future of defencemen Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer up in the air.

Anaheim selected Tangradi in the second round of the 2007 draft. He's currently a member of the Belleville Bulls and entered play Thursday as the Ontario Hockey League's second-leading scorer.

Congrats to Marty for his 100th career shutout!

The trade deadline is this Wednesday right?

I love NHL Trade Deadline Day. It's always entertaining :nice:

Yeah... Deadline day is a good time.

Very slow so far.. but lots of big names.

Current rumor for the Canucks is trying for Bouwmeester. Which is risky cause he's a UFA and we have virtually no prospects to give away. But go big or go home?

Do we need more D-men?

We just got Vananen, so unless we move a defensemen, I don't see the point of getting him.

Although our PK'ing sucks. We need to get someone that can score consistently!

And please get rid of Wellwood. He's has enough chances to pick up his game

Yeah.. but I'd think there would definately be another D-man going back the other way. Bieksa?

He'd be a good PP quarterback.. but I dunno if we put together a package good enough.

And I dunno. I like Wellwood although maybe I shouldn't. He's like one of those quirky lovable losers. Maybe cause he's number 42? :o

We better not be getting rid of Bieksa!

Wellwood had a pretty good start but ever since then he's done nothing.

I don't understand why Raymond is in the lineup either. He has potential I guess but right now, he's not worthy of playing on the team. Even on the 4th line, it's not like his role is meant to be a checker.

As long as Edler and Bieksa stay, I'm happy :nice:

The only reason I liked Wellwood was cause of his number :P Haha
