BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Carrie Underwood is leading the nominations among country artists for the People's Choice Awards. Underwood is up for favorite female artist, along with Alicia Keys and Rihanna. Her song "Last Name" is nominated for Favorite Country Song. And she's on the list of nominees for Favorite Star 35 and Under.

 

Rascal Flatts has two nominations. One for Favorite Group, against Coldplay and Maroon 5, and another in the favorite Country Song category, for "Take Me There."

 

Taylor Swift also has two nominations. She rounds out the nominations for Favorite Country Song, with "Love Story." And she's also 1 of the nominees in the Favorite Star 35 and Under category, along with Underwood, Miley Cyrus and nearly 30 other celebrities.

 

The People's Choice Awards take place Jan. 7 in Los Angeles. Fans can vote for the winners online at http://www.pcaVOTE.com.

Did everyone vote for Coldplay? With the exception of a few non-music related categories, voting is closed. The winners will be announced this Wednesday (07-01-2009) on CBS. The one thing about these awards is that it seems that only the winners appear at the show. I think they tell the winners that they won so that they'll appear, and if they can not appear then they videotape their acceptance speech. I hope Coldplay won but you never can tell how people vote.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I do not believe that they'll win for Best Group because Rascal Flatts is also nominated and they are performing. As I stated before, winners are the really the only ones who attend this award show. In the beginning Rascal Flatts were not performing but they got added to the show so that tells me that they won in that category. I hope I am wrong but I doubt it. Though I do think Coldplay could win for Rock Song.
