Good song. Shouldn't've been a single. I remember I was LIVID when it was announced because I wanted White Shadows so badly! I love the tour version, though.

 

I would say that out of all the tracks on Coldplay's 4 albums, this would be one of the few "fillers." Not to say it's a bad song (cos it's not)...but I really don't see much appeal to it.

Honestly, while The Hardest Part has some heavenly moments, I'm seeing more similarities with its X&Y counterparts in terms of mood than the stuff on VLVODAAHF. Never liked the video, but it's one of those songs that the recording just doesn't do complete justice; live is incredible.

Well, personally, there are only three Coldplay songs I would say I hate and two of them are on X & Y

 

Don't hate me people, 'cos I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me here... I really don't like "A Message" and I cannot stand "Swallowed In The Sea" - it's like nails down a blackboard to me, though I have no idea why...

 

(The other one that I really can't stand is "A Whisper" from AROBTTH, which is just pure filler to me)

Oh goodie, somebody else doesn't like "A Message" (I enjoy "Swallowed in the Sea", but it had to grow on me a bit). Certainly my least favorite X&Y song, and if we're talking about albums only (not B-sides or EP's), it's also one of three songs I don't care for, with the others being "A Whisper" and "Reign of Love".

I knew I'd upset a few people with my comment on SITS ! Honestly, I don't know what it is, it just really irritates me. I'm a huge fan of Chris, but on that track his voice really grates on me - it's like it creates a chemical inbalance in me, or something.

 

I think it's really interesting that this thread was started about one particular track on X & Y, and it's now led to discussions about other tracks on there. It seems that everyone has negative thoughts about some of the tracks on this album... more so than the other three???

I also agree but that was before......Now i love those songs.....

 

X&Y has a spacyrock out stadium type theme - theme and The Hardest Part Totally fits it..it would definitely not fit VLV since VLV has an artistic sounding theme- with colors flying in every verse -theme ofcourse thats what I think it is
