Oh I see.. The newcomer Roger ;)

But I was talking about the one and only Roger :D

I know he lost against Murray again but this means nothing I think.

And Djokovic and Nadal lost too.. They suddenly cannot play tennis anymore!? :uhoh:

I think (I hope) its just the chocolate from Christmas which made them dozey.

I'd like Djoko to win... but I guess Nadal or Murray have better chances... In anycase, I'll be rooting for the three musketeers (Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils & Gilles Simon) ^^

You left out some other musketeers- Paul Henri-Mathieu and Richard Gasquet

Richard Gasquet is totally out of his game for some times now :dozey: ...as for PHM, he's a really nice guy and player (I've got the chance to see him play at Roland-Garros) but this season, he's not as good as the three I cited above... pity, I like him and I hope he'll do a good tournament!

So that's why I left them out...the other three has a chance to win...^^

.. well, you're right.. Gasquet is currently 24th in the world.. :dozey:

PHM did very well in the first 3 grand slams, but at the end of year, he messed up.

He was losing to Djokovic yesterday :P

.. well, you're right.. Gasquet is currently 24th in the world.. :dozey:

His state of mind is not so good for two seasons now...so is his game at the end...He has not the same strong spirit as players like Jo-Wilfried or Gaël who are real fighters no matter what shit happen to them (injuries, new coach...). Hope he'll get a grip of himself...

True but I'll trust him in the end...^^ And Djoko is Djoko so it's not like he's loosing against some random player... :D

HEWITT-GONZALEZ BATTLE

Former Australian Open finalists Lleyton Hewitt and Fernando Gonzalez face the battle of their Australian Open careers to determine who will contest the second round of the 2009 tournament.

In what Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley has described as “the pick of the tournament first round match-ups”, 2007 finalist Gonzalez, who won two titles in 2008, takes on 2005 finalist Hewitt, returning to Grand Slam competition following hip surgery in August.

'Gonzo' holds a 3-2 head-to-head advantage over the Australian, who was one of his victims en route to his runner-up finish two years ago.

OFFICIAL DRAWS WERE ANNOUNCED

World No.1 Rafael Nadal faces journeyman Christophe Rochus in the first round while No.2 Roger Federer, who is campaigning to equal Pete Sampras’ record 14 Grand Slam singles titles, plays Andreas Seppi.

Meanwhile, pre-tournament favourite and No.4 seed Andy Murray takes on tour veteran Andrei Pavel. The Scott has a 1-0 record over the Romanian.

Toughest of the women’s first round matches sees No.11 seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark play 2007 quarterfinalist Shahar Peer of Israel.

Wozniacki, one of the most improved players on the women’s circuit in 2008, held match points against Serena Williams in the quarterfinals in Sydney this week and is one of the tour’s most exciting rising stars.

Top local prospects Samantha Stosur and Casey Dellacqua both face stiff first round assignments. World No.46 Stosur takes on Klara Zakopalova, while No.55 Dellacqua will attempt to overcome No. 19 seed Daniela Hantuchova, a semi-finalist here last year.
