@Carol: Wow, that bag looks SO amazing! You're really talented, but I probably said that already! ;)

And the H&M-jacket... It looks waaaay better on the photo than in real... :dozey: I even tried it on already, but it didn't even look half as great as I'd imagined... Plus the cloth isn't that comfortable, either. :\

Hi the bags are knitted and they took quite a while to work out but I was pleased in the end.

First I knitted a black rectangle much bigger than I needed with a graduated bit for the flap.

Then I knitted the long handle, again, about 3 times longer than the length required.

Then washed them in the machine with some jeans to give more "agitation" on a hot wash to turn them into "felt" which in turn shrank them to the correct size and made the fabric more solid. Then I sewed up the sides to get the bag shape and attached poppers, made a lining from cotton fabric and sewed that in place , added the handle etc.

To get the butterflies I knitted a green square and a pink square larger than I needed and felted those too in the machine, then drew the butterfly on tissue paper and used it as a pattern to cut the shapes out of the squares. Once knitting has been felted it's safe to cut it without it all coming unravelled.

Then I sewed the butterflies in place...voila!

You have to use 100% natural wool not anything with acrylic etc added or it won't felt.

Those H&M jackets are great, thanks for the tip. :)

:wideeyed:Carol thats sounds like a lot of work!!!!!!bit it is definitely worth it:heart::D

OH WELL, I've wanted to go to the mall for a while, and that jacket can be my excuse to go :wacky:

Haha, thanks, what with making two bags and two little "Kris" puppets and a shawl for Anna's mum I was knitting my fingers to the bone in the weeks leading up to my trip to Germany the other week, it was a labour of love though :)

Yeah, I'm afraid.... I was so happy when I saw the advertisement about that jacket because it really seemed perfect, but I was rather "shocked" when I saw it in real... But maybe you should have a look on it yourself, so you can judge on your own. ;)

@Ani: Haha. :P But I mean, you've already got a jacket...?! do you want another one - for winter?

@Carol: Oh yes, indeed! :) I think it was such a sweet idea to bring little Kris along with you! :D

Yeah, he probably did... But never mind. He at least had enough humour to kind of help us with our crazy ideas, you know. :D

And well, I actually learnt knitting at school and I actually even enjoyed it, but I kind of forgot all techniques... And now I guess I'm way too impatient to start it all over again. ;)

@Ani: Oh, I see. Great idea! :D I'm excited about how it'll look like in the end. Make sure to post photos, okay? :)

I've ordered it yesterday. Status of your order: order arrives calendar week 38!
