What do you think of Chris's quote?

Featured Replies

"To me, the sound of this record is the sound of Guy, Will and Johnny taking back the glory. Which makes me very happy."

To me it sounds like Chris is saying people thought he was taking over the band and that's not the direction he wanted it to go in. But we all know that Chris is totally the leader, I'm just glad it hasn't gone to his head. THAT'S WHY HE'S LIKE THE BEST!

CHRIS

Yeah, people always say Coldplay are a 1 man band, but he is showing that everyone has their part to play in the band and its all equally vital to the band. Those people are stupid.

i'm not so sure chris is the leader...didn't they say it was will and chris is just the singer who doesn't mind talking...but that being said i have personally never thought as coldplay as a one person band...

this is true. will is like the leader behind closed doors. chris just has the big mouth ;)

HAHA! I think he means that this album just really expands on rythms and they are using diferent instruments and the sound is maybe a little more complex as far as melody than some of the previous albums, where Chris's voice was the central part of the song (ex. The Scientist) but whatever thats just i got from the quote.

And i think they all share the leadership but Chris is the one who has the most out going personality so we always hear about him being the leader..

i concur. :smug:

I don't think it's a one man band. I think naturally the media directs all the attention at a lead singer because they are usually the most familiar and also I personally think of Guy, Will and Jonny as being quite shy whereas Chris is a bit the opposite but the best thing about Chris' personality is he shares his fame he doesn't want it to be a one man band so he talks about his companions more than he talks about himself. And I definetly think the whole fame side to it is something they definetly don't enjoy.

^

yup

I agree.

Chris sometimes comes off as so modest that his statements are actually self-detrimental, but he usually says those things about Coldplay as a whole, so I'm in no beef over him giving props to his band mates.

Though, is he talking about LP4 or LP5? Because I felt the others actually did take center stage quite a bit during Viva.
