Help needed with DVD burning please!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'd be really grateful if someone could help me please. I just tried to burn some video clips on to a DVD-R but was unsuccessful. I've never done this before as up until recently, I was on a dial up connection and video clips didn't really work on that very well.

I think that the problem may have been with the speed of the discs (the ones I have are DVD-R 16x speed). An error message popped up saying that I should try a slower speed. Please could someone tell me which discs I should buy? My pc is a Compaq Presario Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I didn't realise that some discs wouldn't work on this computer! :embarassed:

The clips are not copy protected, so that isn't the problem!

Thanks in advance for any help.

When you say the write was unsucessful , did the disk come up with "read error" or just not work , or the writing software told you there was a problem with it ? And you made the DVD with DVD compatible format video clips ?

If its a speed issue for sure - try using some different software (or change the settings of the one you have if it supports it) and drop the write speed on it (to 8x for example) .

Thanks for your reply. It's all solved now though! I thought I could just transfer clips directly onto a disk (like I can with audio clips) and didn't know that I needed to get some software first!! Someone told me about Nero so I'm using that now.

Nero is good at dealing with all sorts of video problems :)
