Hey, here's another example of them ripping off a song. Just listen to the intro guitar hook of the original song:

 

 

And compare it to the guitar hook of the Coldplay song:

Now Coldplay changes some of the notes in this one, I will admit, and they don't go up a whole step like the original. So the melody is not exactly the same, but the rhythm of the hook is identical.
