Hi Makayla! I see I came just after Marisa left :(

Wow, you guys have posted almost 40 pages since I left :stunned:

Yeah. i think she just left.

:(

It's okay, she'll be back! How are you?? I have to tell you guys about my Model UN conference :)

I'm great!!

And yes you do have to tell us!

And i also want to hear the dream!

*pulls up chair*

So did the model UN conference go well?

Yes, it went really well! If you don't mind a bit of UN-talk, I'll tell you all about it :P

*points to seat*

I am seated and awaiting your talk.

What country were you?

3 of 8 pages done. gonna be a long night at the library writing. I'm so unmotivated.

Yay! Well I was Gabon, which wasn't too great, and it was my first conference, so I was pretty nervous. Our first topic was the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which was weird for me since I'm Jewish but had to argue against Israel! Anyway, my friend and I ended up being the primary sponsors for the only passing resolution on the topic, which was incredibly exciting for my first conference! We ended up beating this other resolution that was written by a group of really well-trained competitive kids, and my Model UN only meets once a week and we're not competitive at all, so it felt like an underdog victory. It was amazing to get it passed, especially since we took such a risky view (ours was the very anti-Israel view)! It took over 12 hours of debate to get it passed :stunned:

And now, a key for those who don't know Model UN:

In Model UN, everyone represents a country, and you debate conflicts from the view of that country. The goal is to pass resolutions, which are these fancy documents that outline your plan for the topic- you can look here and try to find an example of the format, it's really weird. Sponsors of resolutions write, propose, introduce, present, and argue for them. It's pretty intense and involves a lot of debate and public speaking

12 hours, that's a long time for a conference.

But did you enjoy yourself?

Well it was over 4 days, each session was about 3 1/2 hours long. ;) But it felt like a realllllly long time!

And yes, I definitely did! It was just so exciting when my resolution passed :wacky:

Yay :)

And your resolution was backing Palestine, the country my village is named after :)

*looks at Model UN talk*

I remember doing that in the 6th grade. I was Russia. :)
