Chris Martin Popart (New Info: Raffle)

Featured Replies

Hi

I've re-threaded this guys because for some reason the original thread has joined the old popart thread and now people can't see the link for my Chris Martin painting because it is buried in the middle of the old thread.

Hi guys, I did this Chris Martin Popart. Hope you like it. I think it's a big improvement on the Coldplay parody painting I did. I hope you think so too!

This is the only painting available and there will be no prints or copies made. It has also been copyright protected so please do not use it without my permission.

If however it does sell and you bid but lose, then please feel free to get in touch with me and I can paint another one for you.

It is a huge painting and would look great on your wall. It looks a lot better in the flesh than it does in the photographs.

Thanks for looking

it's sound great, but i can't see it, the page says:

"The eBay page or feature you are attempting to access is not responding."

i would love too see it

there's no for some reason, it was deliberately moved into the other pop art thread because it doesn't really need a thread of its own.

That's a bit of a pain for me because now no new people will see my painting as it is mixed up in the middle of an old thread that no one will look at!

Nice job. I did a self-portrait a little bit like that in art class, but it was not nearly as good as this. What paints and so forth did you use?

Thanks guys.

I used acrylics (for my first time actually) on 100% cotton canvas. I normally work with oils and do an acrylic background. Oils take 4 to 5 days to dry, so it was nice to paint this and have dry in 15 minutes.

oooh, that is fun. I don't use acrylics very often cause they do tend to dry too quickly for my liking. I basically suck at painting, though... so in actuallity I don't really use much of anything very often. :P

Lol. Coolio. I am planning to do lots more Chris and Coldplay paintings. I'm going to do some smaller ones to sell cheaper. Mind you, the price for my popart is quite generous. I saw someone post a Coldplay painting on ebay and it was smaller than mine and they wanted 399 pounds for it!

I think sometimes people don't realise how much canvas and paints cost. Plus the work that goes into it. I only started painting in Sept 2008 at the age of 42 and I hadn't picked so much as a pencil up since I was 15, so I'm quite chuffed at how I'm improving.:)

I have no idea how much 50 pounds is, because I'm not from Britain XD. I feel so culturally irrelevant. That's very good for someone who hasn't done much art lately.

Chris Martin Raffle

Hey Guys n Girls.

I'm Lee. I posted a Popart painting of Chris Martin on here last week. It seems that at 39.99 GBP you were all saying you couldn't afford it. This was really cheap as most artists would sell a lot higher.

This got me to thinking and I really want my painting to go to a genuine fan. So with that in mind, I am going to hold a raffle for my painting. You can purchase one number for 2.00 GBP. Three numbers for 5.00 GBP or Seven numbers for 10.00GBP. Obviously you can just buy one number but the more numbers you have in the draw the more chances you have of winning.

By doing this I will get a fair price for my painting and for all you fans who say you can't afford it then you stand a chance of winning it for a paultry 2 pounds.

Firstly, could you please let me know how many of you would be interested by replying to this thread. Once it seems that there is enough interest to make it worth doing then all you have to do is pm me and I will give you my Paypal e-mail address and you can then log in at Paypal and pay me for your number. I will then reply to you once I have received payment with your number for the draw. I say that I need enough interested people as it will cost me around 25.00 GBP to post it and canvas paint costs etc....

If you're not a member of Paypal, it only takes a few minutes to sign up with minimal hassle. I will also except bank transfers.

The draw will be made on the date stated once I set it up. The winner can then send me their address for me to post the painting.

I have checked this out legally and I am breaking no laws as it is my painting to do with as I please and I just think it is fairer this way and I would love someone to win it without having to pay loads.

Please give it ago guys and maybe we can set up some more in the future and I may do one with the proceeds going to charity.

Here is a reminder of the popart. it measures 24x20 Inches or 61x50 cms and is a boxed canvas. 100% cotton painted in Acrylics. My first ever, actually. The apple gives you an idea of the size.

Chris Martin Raffle....get yourself a raffle number!

Hey guys please check out the added raffle section on the Chris martin popart thread!

You've got a thread for your art, there is no need for 2.

Oh for pete's sake. I'm an artist myself, and you are starting to irk me. >: /

"It seems that at 39.99 GBP you were all saying you couldn't afford it. This was really cheap as most artists would sell a lot higher."

Not necessarily.

"I have checked this out legally and I am breaking no laws as it is my painting to do with as I please..."

Is your painting based on a photo to which you have reproduction rights?

  • Author

No it's not based on a photo.

You show me someone selling such a large painting of Chris at a cheaper price and then you'll have an argument. I'm not trying to rip anyone off, infact, totally the opposite. i just wanted a Chris fan to have it.

Chill out Dude! I didn't realise I had offended you so deeply by wanting to sell a piece of artwork.

If you want to run me down anymore just pm and don't clog up the thread, it's supposed to be a bit of fun!

Al right, I'm sorry! Guess I just felt you were being a tad pushy and when I asked about the photo I thought I saw a resemblance to this...

But good luck to you. Hope you get what you think it's worth. I'm shutting up now! ;)

Why would I be being pushy by offering people a chance to win it for 2 quid. I'm a genuine guy. Don't know if you have had bad experiences with people who aren't but I'm not one of them. You don't even know me and wouldn't think I was pushy in anyway if you did. I was going to tell you to grow up but then thought I won't because then it would look like I was doing what you did when you apologised but still threw in your sarcastic answer anyway.

Still don't know what I did to offend you in the first place Dude?
