The thread where anyone can talk about anything

Featured Replies

If this was a while ago (but not very long ago), my two thousandth post probably would have been a picspam. I've been trying to not go to those picture posting threads recently, though. It's not healthy for me to get too mindless and fangirly over the Coldplay boys.

.....I NEVER realized that!!

LAURA YOU HELPED ME SEE THE LIGHT!!1!

Well, the people in this thread seemed to have been taking them seriously.

Psst! It's part of teh jokes!!!

Sort of. I think.

Technically that WAS a picspam, only... of pigs and strawberries

Well, two photos would not be considered a picture spam. But you know that I meant a picspam of Chris Martin (or possibly Guy Berryman).

Plus a lot of Radiohead fans are total assholes. It's like, if you say you DON'T like Radiohead, they say stuff like, "Oh, it's just one of the lower peasants who doesn't have the higher brain functions necessary to appreciate something so vast and sweepingly awesome as Radiohead and then they laugh it off with their buddies. Eww.

edit: LAURA! Your post is AWESOME! *supportivenesssupportiveness*

psst... actually it wasn't :P burn!

Ohh yes, I've talked to this one girl who's a hard core Radiohead fan, and I said they're okay and I like Coldplay better anyways, I mean I like Radiohead but only some songs, so she starting going on about how I'm probably not intelligent enough to understand their songs, and it's good that I listen to Coldplay because they're easy enough for my mind to understand. What a douche seriously

^Yes, she definitely sounds like a douchebag.

Just my luck! My special post is on the bottom of the last page.

So what do you like best by Hey Rosetta! so far, Sara?

Oh, this is my two thousandth post. I could not think of anything amazing to post, so I just decided to not bother. Here is a nice piggy photo I found, though.

Also, strawberries.

:laugh3::laugh3: aw, great post!

Hooray! Now it's at the top of the page!

(Though it isn't the original post, but whatever.)

How we should make a campaign to save the pigs in Egypt?

i want to ask chris how he got to be this wonderful sex god...i want to learn from him...

What a douche, indeed!

If I were you I would have rounded on her with a snappy retort that the fact that Coldplay's lyrical imagery is simple enough to be understood by ALL is EXACTLY what makes them such a class-act band. Hard-to-understand metaphors and imagery does NOT necessarily a good band make. T_T

Not that Radiohead is a bad band or anything -- they're great! But you don't even need to be intelligent to come up with a meaning for a musical metaphor, anyway. And even if you do "understand" them, it isn't like you necessarily have to like them or anything.

Radiohead's lyrics are very ambiguous if you ask me (not that it's a bad thing, no. Just saying).

Coldplay's lyrics could be considered ambiguous!

"I drew a line/I drew a line for you/And all the things you do"? (That's how it goes, right?)

That particular line is pretty ambiguous. Not as ambigous as that one Fitter Happier or something, but it isn't like Coldplay is just random shit spouted out of Chris Martin's mouth about how wonderful life is, or something.

I mean, Yellow as a whole is not very ambiguous at all, but Coldplay isn't... anti-ambiguous or something. Y'know?

You bet. Anything else y'all wanna talk about?

EDIT: How did I miss that post?!!! I love Strawberries :nice:

i have some  wanna share?

How we should make a campaign to save the pigs in Egypt?

campaign for pigs! but they are already elected, aren't they?

i want to ask chris how he got to be this wonderful sex god...i want to learn from him...

haha this is so random

You can't learn from him.... you guys are different sexes, it's Gwyneth you're after I think?

ask his wife how to be a sex god so i can woo her husband????:stunned:

Ah I could've, instead I told her she's a douche if she thinks that. She had some attemts trying to diss coldplay, which I just ignored, I told her if she was that intelligent anyways she wouldn't go that low trying to offend me. I like Radiohead's songs but just far not all.

What I meant with the ambiguity thing is.. Can one really say that all of Thom Yorke's lyrics have tons of meaning if sometimes it seems as though he was writing random stuff that popped into his head?

I'm not bashing Radiohead. I've made it apparent on this forum before that I like them. I've posted in the Radiohead thread a lot.

Well you just shared with about 15 people that you want to do Chris Martin, and that's you're thinking about all the different positions, why not make it 16 so what if it's his wife?

EDIT: ty Midas :)

Agreed!

When we did poetry in English class, dozens of kids started farting out supposedly ambiguous lines that they didn't find even to be particularly poetic just because our English teacher ate them up. They didn't even mean anything.

they ARE very random. But it's a taste for some of us, and if you're able to dig into the mind of an insane person like thom, you can find a lot of meaning in the words even if they are random.

Radiohead is actually one of my favorite bands. It's just that what a lot of asshole Radiohead fans say annoy me.

That's a good response!
