I wasn't aware it was apparently so ridiculous. I've never watched it, only heard of it, and heard some of the songs entered in it. Although not much of the music is very good imo.

It's all about politics and 'neighbourhood' :(

 

Neighbouring countries will give each other the highest points and countries with a huge musical background usually end up somewhere at the bottom of the list.

 

The most annoying fact is that these countries (UK, Sweden, Germany) are paying the biggest shares of royalties for the whole event and that sucks big time :(

 

It's just very frustrating when you realize that a really good song doesn't get any recognition because it's not from some certain countries which stick to each other ...

i just got to remember how shocking was for some people when the swedish band lordi won :uhoh: i reckon they were original on stage... but at this point then if Blasted Mechanism ever takes part on that to promote Portugal they should win. (ops i'm going off-topic).

I don't know for sure whether actually these countries pay for the event itself but at least they pay the highest license royalties for the organisation.

 

And I reckon' most events will get sponsored by the organisation and that not only Moscow/Russia or whoever will host that show will have to pay for the expenses.
