Britain's fattest teenager proudly shows off her figure after shedding 14-stone at fat camp

Britain's fattest teenager showed off her new slimline figure when she appeared on U.S. television today.

Georgia Davis, who once weighed over 33-stone, appeared relaxed and happy as she revealed she had lost over 14-stone in just nine months

But the 16-year-old said she hasn't finished losing weight and vowed to drop a further seven-stone.

'My goal is around 10st7lb or around that area,' said a beaming Georgia, who lives in Aberdare, South Wales.

Last year doctors told the teenager, who is 5ft6in tall, she had to lose 20-stone or die.

Her weight struggle made headlines around the world and she was invited to a U.S. fat camp in a last ditch attempt to get her ballooning weight under control.

The once sickly teenager was placed on a strict diet after joining the Wellspring Academy in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

She was encouraged to do regular exercise and walked 10,000 steps every day.

Georgia, who was once addicted to chocolate, is now ready to return home for an emotional reunion with her mother Lesley.

She said she had gone from Britain's fattest teen to Britain's happiest teen.

'I can't wait to go home and look after my mum,' she said.

'I have so much more energy in me. At home I did not have an eating plan, eating very high fat foods.'

Good Morning America presenter Robyn Roberts told Georgia she had undergone a total transformation when she appeared on a segment of the show called The Biggest Loser....really'.

One of the most popular shows on U.S. TV is called The Biggest Loser with overweight people taking part in a reality show as they try to lose weight.

Georgia was accompanied on the show by Susan Boardman, one of the directors from the Academy.

Miss Boardman said the British teenager had inspired others at the academy and was confident she would be able to lose the extra weight as she had her eating under control.

Georgia will also feature in a photo spread in the celebrity magazine People.

Wow how could anyone let themself get that big?.

More to the point, how could a parent allow it to happen.................... ;)

Wow, well done :stunned:

It's really unhealthy to be that big ! Hope she'll keep it going ;)

Obesity is something I really don't understand. I was actually shocked (and spent quite a miserable evening because of that) when I came to the US ... so so many obese people who were still eating junk food. I know it's easy to find it and I know it's made to taste good, but I can't believe some of those people have neglected themselves to that extent.

But I rather not think about it so much because I still remember that feeling I had.

I think a lot of people are misinformed about fast food and junk food; even if you have a high metabolism, it's still very unhealthy for you.

I watched this program where this woman carried around a McDonalds burger and bun for 5 years, and the thing never rotted, it stayed perfectly preserved. God only knows what that is doing to our bodies when we eat it.

Some people are their own worst enemy, unfortunately.;)

I remember seeing some extremely obese people waddling around Disneyland in California. They could barely walk.:stunned:

Sadly, it's not a question of choice. Many obese people are addicted to eating in that way since that's all they've ever done. That'd be like someone coming along and telling you you could only eat vegetables for the rest of your life. Unless you are a vegetarian, you are not gonna be able to give up meat and other foods.

And of course the obesity will only get worse since McDonald's is actually doing better since the recession began, as people need a quick, cheap meal...and that's exactly what they're getting. But at what cost?

If somebody said that I wouldn't have a big problem with it, as I much prefer vegetables to meat.:smug:

But as has been proven on many occasions, McDonald's isn't cheap. If you know what to buy, and how to cook, and aren't a lazy SOB, you can make money go much further by buying fresh produce.

Years ago people survived with far less money because they had to. There were no social handouts, there were often far more mouths to feed as families tended to be larger, and places like McDonald's didn't exist.

Plus people often had to walk long distances to get anywhere (making them automatically fitter) and it wasn't possible to become a couch potato TV zombie.;)

I think I don't want to know. And the bad thing is that it tastes good but one burger too many, and you're sick of it for a whole month.

I've seen that in WDW Orlando. They had special strollers and wheelchairs because they couldn't walk. And YET I've seen a couple (a man and an obese woman) who were eating a cheeseburger and chips. Did I mention she couldn't walk and had piles of fat below her knees?

Like Mark said, I wouldn't have much problem with it. Even though I don't eat many vegetables I could accustom myself with the diet.

They DO have a choice but they're always taking the easiest way. If they don't see people eat veggies and healthy meat, they won't eat them themselves because they wouldn't even have a role model.

Well, fast food definitely isn't cheap. I can't speak for my own country because we only have McDonald's here (however, it is possible to buy a Big Mac, a pie, french fries and a Coke for €1.50 if you're a student) so there's no competitions between the food chains, but in the US ... Sadly I don't remember the name of the place, but it wasn't cheap. I spent maybe $15 for fish and chips and the portion wasn't even that big. In WDW, everything cost more than $8 and the food wasn't healthy, it wasn't particularly good and what was healthy (read: fruit) was $1 per piece. That's quite a lot for my standards and I didn't want to eat because I didn't feel well stuffing that food inside my body and I didn't want to spend all the money on it.

Don't say that buying things in Walmart is expensive. 1 (!!!) gallon of water costs $1 - that's so cheap I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. So anyway, when I bought myself food in Walmart I spent maybe $45 and I was fine for one week whereas in McDonald's and the like I'd spend the same amount of money in 2 days if I wanted to have 3 meals a day.

So yeah, Walmart and the like are definitely a better choice - too bad people only see junk food.

ETA: Past times are a good example how people could live without having much money OR food. My mom's family was quite large and definitely not rich, but that didn't make her or her siblings less healthier. They're healthy as can be. :)

Obesity can be a genetic problem, so some people are not responsible of it !

But that's true, some americans are totally irresponsible :\

Far too many people use this as an excuse. If this genetic problem is really so huge (in which case it would have to be a virtual pandemic), how come there are so many more super-obese people nowadays than there were thirty years ago (strangely enough before fast food restaurants started to spring up in every town)?

Is someone seriously suggesting this "gene" has mutated so rapidly in such a short space of time?

I'm not a geneticist, but I very much doubt it.;)

And even if you do possess this gene, surely by being extra careful in what you eat and by doing more exercise you wouldn't put on that much weight??

I think the problem is that many people stop caring if they gain a little bit of weight if they're already very overweight.

I actually worked in a fast food place for a little while and we got three food on every eight hour shift. One of my workmates was very overweight and she seemed to be quite self conscious about yet she ate there whenever she could and sometimes even had a second meal after work. She actually told me that she thought it was strange that I preferred to take packed lunches to work.

I don't think the issue is fast food, necessarily. If you eat it every once in a while, you won't be overweight. It's only when you eat it every day that it becomes a problem.

I know it's like calling the kettle black, because I'm a little bit overweight. But some people just can't shed the pounds easily. It's not the same for everyone.

Maybe not - but if you exercise enough and eat sensibly, you will lose weight. It's simply a case of mind over matter and self-discipline.;)
