Proof on guitar

Featured Replies

Hello

I've wanted to play Proof on the guitar for a long time but haven't been able to found any tabs for it that I could use :(

I've found this tab: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/coldplay/proof_crd.htm

But those chords don't sound right to me, besides I'm not used to taking those kinds of chords (with the thumb).

Maybe I should emphasize that I want the chords to sound like the pianoplay and not the background guitar in the song because I want to sing along with it.

Is there anyone out there who knows a good tab for it or perhaps has some spare time to create a tab for it? Preferably I would like one with normal tuning and simple chords or barre chords.:)

Surprises me that there's not any more tabs for this song out on the web, since it's so great :D

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes some time:)

Hey there, welcome on board!

This tab is right, the guy just didn't put the chords in the right order. And you don't need to use your thumb, if you follow the chords that are hand-tabbed at the beginning, except the E, they're all bared chords.

And really, you can sing along while playing, it does sound like the piano :)

The E and G#madd13 sounds right but I can't play the other chords in a way that they sound right to me... Is it just that I have a bad hearing?:P What would the apppropriate order to play the chords be?

Also, am I only suppose to strum the four upper strings? I would guess, since the B and e strings sounds really high when I bar them on the 9th fret...

Thanks:)

ehmmmm. well in the verse, the chords are in the right order, expect that there's no Badd11.

In the chorus, I play it like Badd11, then C#m7, then G#madd13 and then C#m7 til the end of the chorus.

but you know, it doesn't sound perfect, I know, but it's the best we got.

I got a book where all the Coldplay songs are tabbed with chords. I'll look it up later this week (I'm atmy parents' house at the moment, and the book is at my appartment.) and I'll coem back with that for you.

Hope you don't mind a bump! MariePeter18 :) I don't wanna ask to much, it's just that I really wanna play this song with my guitar. And I have no problem singing along to the track, I do however when I try to play with these chords... :( Then, I guess there's a lot of people that have used this tab already (like u) and liked it... It surprises me though... :)

The chords in the tab sound good, though (as mentioned) they aren't in correct order.

Being able to fret the 6th string with the thumb comes with practice. If you plan to play other Coldplay songs, you should try to learn it. For most people it should be easier to do on a steel string guitar compared to a nylon string guitar due to the size of the neck.

Also, if you use the thumb on the 6th string, it's a good idea to play the E chord with your ring, pinky and middle finger on the 5th, 4th and 3rd string respectively. This makes it easier to change chords quickly.

If you want, I can play Proof and capture a quick video of how I play it (focus on the fretboard).
