Me too! Can't see one of them happening in Brisbane though. Hopefully I'll get to work at the festival... that's forever away though!

just got back from the Middle East at the Metro.

basically my thoughts are that this is a band that could be and should be doing better. they play far too little from their amazing EP and are too self indulgent with their more lengthy material. but the band's vocal work remains second to none.

i'm seeing them again on Thursday. hope they do a better set and their audience is more respectful.

Well, that makes me feel a little better for forgetting to buy tickets for their brisbane show on Wednesday night :P

It's a shame they skipped a lot of tracks from their EP, that would basically be the reason I would go and see them anyway! :P It'll be interesting to see what you think of them after Thursday.

oh and i didnt get my ticket back after the show!! gggrrrr i hate that! but i always keep the ticketek receipt :P

do the rest of you have a little box or somewhere to keep all your concert tickets? initially i just had an envelope. but eventually i ran out of space so i upgraded to a shoe box. sadly if there was one thing in my room i could save in a fire. i would take that box haha

^hahaha, I hear you! I have a folder where I keep my tickets, set times (for festivals, if I feel like it) and setlists/other memorabilia I acquire at shows. In a fire, the first thing I would save is my computer, but it would come soon after

I keep my tickets (seeing as I am still in my early concerting days) inside the respective tour program that I purchase from the show.

i'm the guy who stands in front of the merch stand and has a groan about the ridiculous prices. :smug:

re Harvest. can't say i'm THAT excited about it. like i said on The National thread i think they've been on the road long enough and it's time they go back into the studio. i'm that big on Portishead or Flaming Lips.

i'm hoping Parklife sells out really fast and they announce sideshows for a lot of the acts. Parklife isn't quite known for giving us many sideshows so i hope this year is the exception.

not sure if you guys saw the Foo Fighters rumoured dates or not but that looks like it will be the tour of the year as the band is aiming to do stadiums only around the country. i will be there with bells and whistles and my very best moshing shoes :P

well date no.3 with The Middle East took place at the Factory Theatre tonight. and wow! they were incredible! on fire! amazing!! the crowd was captivated. the band was played every note as if it was their last. and unlike last week they kept my attention the entire time. a great show by a band with a great future.

well guys. with that i say farewell. i've decided to say goodbye to coldplaying and move on to other things. there is no real reason for my departure other than the fact that i just think i've exhausted this place of everything it could give me. the greatest thing it has given me is this thread. a place where i can share my passion for this great brown land of ours and the music it gives the world. a place to celebrate our glorious festivals and venues. i would like to say something to each of the main contributors to this thread.

first. bryce. i envy you very much. such a young kid but with so much knowledge about music and such a genuine passion for it. i hope one day you can come down and live in my town sydney and enjoy the fruits of our live scene. i know you would love that. best of luck in your hsc. i have no doubt that you will do incredibly well. doing well in the hsc and getting into law school is probably the thing i'm most proud about. with a bit of determination and belief i'm sure you will achieve something worth being proud of. thank you mate.

next alex. i know you haven't been on here much this year. but you're the reason why this thread kicked off. your approach to aussie music was never as snobbish as mine haha so it was nice to have you with me as we tried to spread the good music this land produces. i'm sure had we known each other in the real world we would've been best of mates. i can't think of many people i have more in common with than you. i hope your band kicks off and even if they don't i know your passion for music will never die. thank you bro.

finally. grace :) my dear. i'm going to start off with something awkward and entirely inappropriate. over the last few months we've spent a lot of time "talking" to each other on different threads on this forum. and even though i've never seen you or had a real conversation with you. i kinda developed a crush on you :embarrassed: you're awfully sweet and well mannered. i've never seen you say anything mean or negative to anyone on this forum and thats quite hard to find. you've laughed at my lame jokes and loved my lame kanye :P and i like you even more for that. so i hope who ever you end up takes good care of you and hopefully loves music as much as you do. he will most certainly be a very lucky guy. thank you darling.

and thats it. i beg you guys to keep this thread alive. it means so much to me and it would kill me to see it drift away. i really hope with coldplays LP5 that another aussie music lover comes along and joins you. but with the direction coldplay are taking im not sure if we'll get that type here anymore.

this is one of my all time favourite aussie songs. please remember this. we live in the best country in the world. that might not make us better than everyone else but it does make us luckier than them.

Wow, Jamie! This is a big shock. Sorry to hear, but I guess you move on. Since starting full time work and leaving Uni I havent visited this place nearly as much as I used to. Priorities change, I guess. Was great to have some valid and logical discussions with one of the more logical members of the forum. And another Man U fan! The passion lives on, still going to lots of gigs (as Grace will know)... just not as in touch with the scene as I used to. You get to a point where you have discovered most of the bands you love so you just stick with their releases over the years. The band is working hard for our first gig at the moment and our first single will be available soon, very exciting times!

Will definitely try to keep the thread alive!!

Woah Jamie, I'm sorry to hear that you are leaving. Thankyou for your kind words and I wish you all the best for the future.

Jamie, I really had to think hard about how to reply to this. Everything you said to me was incredibly sweet and it really means a lot to me. I hope you did end up getting my message.

You've got my details and I really do hope we can stay in touch - be sure to visit here from time to time and say hi to us who are still here. As I've said, we'll try our best to keep this thread alive! As the founder of it though, it won't quite be the same without you.

Moreso, thank you for actually taking the time to say goodbye and leaving us those messages, rather than just disappearing. I'm sure I speak for Bryce and Alex as well in saying that we really do appreciate it.

I'm sure that even though you won't be expressing it here, your passion for music (and particularly that of the Australian kind) will live on. Thanks for everything you've contributed to this place, we'll miss you.

Take care and keep well, mate.

FALLS ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Arctic Monkeys coming this summer! Currently losing my shit.

I got REALLY REALLY excited for about half an hour there, and then my heart was completely crushed when I discovered that Sunset Sounds is not actually coming back next year

The splendour timetable was released this morning. Very happy. Friday and Sunday nights to be epic!!! Only 3 clashes. Grace I'll have to show you my proposed plan!

Which btw involves main stage last night from 6pm-12pm!!

SAY WHAT??! I'm going to check right now. And that's no problem, I did that twice at last years :P

:curtain:

I know I'm only a mortal American with very limited knowledge in Australian music, but I like this thread.

Really, I just came in here to mention that "China" by Sparkadia has been one of my most played songs this summer. Seriously. I just. Can't. Stop. Nor do I want to. GEEZ. :bomb:

OK. Moving on. :escaping:

^I've never heard of them... :embarrassed:

That's great, Violet!! I love that song, hopefully I'm FINALLY going to see them live in September!

It's great to see other members of WoM in here, especially now we're down a number :uhoh:

It's an album by The Triffids  it was ranked nr. 5 in Triple J's 100 best Aussie albums list.

That sounds great! Good luck with that. :D

Yeah, well, I don't know a whole lot, but I'll be sure to look into a few things to maybe give myself some sort of basic knowledge. Haha.

I don't know anything about Aussie music, BUT I dropped in to say that lately I've discovered Isaac Graham and I really really like him! Also Lucas Kane Hall is a good musician and a nice guy too.
