Man, I would love to go to a couple of those sideshows. Possibly the ONLY bad thing about having Splendour so close to Brisbane is that we miss out on the sideshows. I know we get to see more of the bands etc etc but there are a few bands on this years' and last years' lineup that I would just really, really like to see at a non-festival show.

they might announce a few more acts but they will probably just be a few DJ's and small local acts. i think the days of major second announcements are over.

thanks for the offer but flights ended up costing me less than 60 bucks so i'm all good :) the train tickets are almost more expensive lol. i get there thurs night and leave brisbane airport late afternoon on monday. and i won't going alone! which is a massive relief lol. i found someone in the last minute.

Bahaha. I actually liked the last album, but I'll admit I'd kind of forgotten about them until this morning when I heard a snippet of the new song on the radio.

 

And that's great you found someone willing to travel up here with you! Good luck arriving here Thursday night, I know there were some pretty horrific traffic jams on the Thursday night last year :\ they are trying to fix that this year though.

i've had the trial kennedy album on high rotation lately. sadly it's turned out to be just a whole lot of drum bashing and melodramatic vocals and half arsed guitar riffs.

Hmm, interesting playlist. Pixies to Warpaint to David Bowie to Korn. I must have only just missed them this morning!

 

Don't think I'll bother with the Trial Kennedy album. I was never a huge fan of their past stuff and there's already so much great music coming out lately (most of it not australian unfortunately).

 

Really enjoying the stuff from Seeker Lover Keeper, with Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltman and Holly Throsby though!

Violet, just come holiday over here between 29 July and 1 August and come to Splendour. I think tickets are still on sale. And it's not like they're all that expensive anyway :P

they're ridiculously expensive compared to american prices. thats one reason why i want to live in the US, the amazingly cheap gig tickets.

Perhaps I should have noted the sarcasm in my previous post. I guess it's not all that obvious over the internet :lol:

Starting to try and get things organised for Splendour, not going to be as easy as last year though because I've got to come up with most of the camping stuff myself this time haha!

i'm still waiting on the Sufjan LATW they promised us! this soundwave series has another 3 weeks in it. so sufjan is still a fair way off.

Ohhhhhh so THAT'S why they've had so many same-y LATWs lately. Sufjan would be awesome!

yeah they basically go in groups these days. they had Falls series then BDO series then One Night Stand series and now Soundwave. we might get a few random ones before they start with splendour.

amazing!! but terrible timing. a bulk of the people interested would be uni students and at the 4 major unis in sydney june is first semester exam period. i don't know many people who have their exams done before june 10. and that has been reflected in the poor sales of a lot of the events. i had a look at tickets for Bat For Lashes and i would say a quarter of the seats are still available. had they held this in late june or early july i can guarantee you these shows would've sold many many more tickets. i know for a fact i would've gone to cut copy, tame impala and bat for lashes.
