Paranormal Activity

Has anybody seen this movie yet? I don't know about internationally, but it's an indie film that has opened to more theaters in the States due to the public demand.

It's supposed to be freakishly scary and I'm considering seeing it, but I wanna know if it's worth it.

There have been several reviewers that have said that if you liked "The Blair Witch Project" than this is 100x better and scarier. Problem is, I haven't seen that movie before, so I have nothing to compare it to.

If it's all hype, than I don't want to waste my money and yes...the trailer IS intriguing, but doesn't really show enough to make me wanna run out and see it right away. :shrugs:

I haven't seen the movie but I am curious about it. It does look quite interesting. I haven't seen the Blair Witch Project either but I know people who have seen that movie and some liked it and some didn't, but that is due to personal tastes.

I say go and see the movie because you have a chance of wasting your money on any movie you see.

It looks like a shit film that tries to make itself into a cult classic by using pathetic, worn out techniques of 'scaring' people. Notice how in the trailers when they show audience reactions, people are always jumping? Using sudden sounds and flashy images to startle people isn't scary, it just raises your blood pressure. Too many scary films these days just try to startle you rather than actually scare you, and this film looks no different.

Skip.

EDIT: The trailer also says you must see it in theaters. A truly scary film would be just as scary on DVD (all the best horror movies are). Don't waste the money and be disappointed. Rent it later and it won't be any different except that you didn't just spend $!8 on food and tickets.

Well....we just got back from seeing it, and it was definitely creepy......a psychological thriller. I'd recommend people to see it, however, we had some douches in the audience that kept making stupid ass comments when it got quiet. And, of course, some of the girls in the audience screamed like little kids. *sigh* But, other than that....it lived up to the hype.

Nope, I wouldn't say that. It was slow in the beginning, but they did that to build suspense and get you acclimated to the characters and their situation.

I read somewhere that the only reason it has gotten national showing is because of Steven Spielberg. It was shown to him and he took interest in it. The ending that is showing in theaters isn't the actual directors ending, it's Spielberg's ending.....so after seeing it, I'm REALLY curious to see what the director's ending was. I've read that the movie scared Steven Spielberg, which is why Dreamworks picked it up.

EDIT: Also, there wasn't a ton of stuff that made you jump. Lots of it was subtle stuff....like a shadow moving on the door or.....well, I don't want to ruin it if anybody plans on seeing it.

The first 30 minutes are subtle and then the intensity starts ratcheting up after the introduction of a Ouija board. The actors did a good job.

bummmmpppp

SPOILER:

Okay, So I saw this film a few days ago. This film was pretty lame. To me i spent an hour watching people talk about the "demon" and then at night, a girl rocks and a door slams. The ending scene, the one where the girl slits her throat, its creepy. But, other than that, the movie was just boring. No popcorn thrills.

In my opinion, this movie is a waste of time. It is by far not a psychological thriller.

Damn total burn man.

With this kind of movies I start to laugh finally. I will see it, but i don´t expect anything about it

My friends said that only the last 20 minutes of the film are interesting...

meh :blank:

I think I'm gonna download it from the interwebs

This is true, the last 20mins are basically the only part of the film that is not that lame.

Everyone has different opinions, some people find this really scary.

I saw it. And it was OK. I thought it was going to be better, because it was said that it's is the scariest movie of all time. but it isn't.

Gonna watch it tomorrow.

On my friends PC :awesome:

I saw this movie the other night and couldn't believe all the hype people gave this movie. All they do in the movie is she walks out of the room and you hear "OH MY GOD!!! WTF IS THAT!!? WHAT IS THAT!!?" and then her boyfriend comes running to see whats the matter and then you hear "AHHH! OH MY GOD!! WTF!!! WHAT IS THAT!!?". It could be nasty mold growing in the shower for all we know. There was nothing scary about this movie.

Poltergeist was the scariest movie I ever saw.

This movie will freak you out >___< so creepy haha boo I hid behide a big pillow the whole time

Well I watched it with two friends and I guess we creeped each other more out than the film itself! :laugh3:

Still, some parts of the movie were rather boring, but I'd say it's a good film.
