Sorry if someone else already mentioned it here...

So today I was looking for a song on iTunes when suddenly I noticed that Coldplay's "The Scientist" was currently on the fifth position of the single charts. :stunned:

It just took me a few seconds to find out that some people of the (terrible) Popstars show actually (tried to) perform (ed) this song last week.

Bad or very bad? What do you think? :D

I watched it last thursday.

My opinion: BAD

It could've been worse :D

Well, one of the singers there was in my art class, and he told me there that they sang The Scientist on this show, so I was prepared for the worst!

Hi Lars!!!

OUCH

3:07mins hurts. A lot.

What is the guy singing??

"I was ???

At numbers and figures..."

And it's

"Questions of science

Science and progress

Do not speak as loud as my heart"

What she's singing makes no sense.

Apparently they can't even learn those few lines they're singing. :dozey:

He said that has been the best performance??

I know why I'm not watching TV anymore...

But good that it brought the song in the top 5 :)

The Scientist performed on German Popstars show - no. 5 in German charts

Thanks for posting this.

When the first one - the young man - started to sing "The Scientist", I thought YES. But soon it turned out that this wonderful song would be sung as a CANON (mus. piece with different parts taking up the same theme successively), and as a canon I did not like it.

But if each of the singers had sung this song alone, I would still have said YES, because I liked their voices. But I did not like that "The Scientist" was sung as a canon. One of the men evaluating the young singers' performances had tears in his eyes!

And you wrote that their cover version of "The Scientist" is no. 5 in the German singles charts? That reminds me of Darin who debuted with his cover version of "Viva la Vida" in the Swedish single chart yesterday (Sunday 18 October 2009). His version was oversweet so after having heard it 3 times (a video is posted on a thread about VLV cover), I felt a bit sick.

When I hear the original sung by Coldplay, I am still flying - I simply cannot get enough of that Coldplay song - sung by COLDPLAY.

But to sum up: The young singers' voices were great, BUT I did NOT like this cover version of "the Scientist" because it was sung as a CANON.

Hallo Anna! :nice: Hope you're doing well! :)

I agree, 3:07 mins hurts the most! It's so horrible! :laugh3:

Hey Nancy! :)

The beginning isn't that bad, that's true. But after a while it only hurts! :D

Well it's on the fifth position of the iTunes single charts. I don't know if they're the same charts as the official one. But I don't think so. ;)

It is bad... :wreck:

I think both the singers was bad and the stage looked bad... :\

On the positiv side: then it could have been more bad than that... :)

A swedish prof popstar, Darin, have made a cover of Viva la Vida..

... and it is not good either :\ :wreck:

The Scientist cover version in Germany

Sorry, but I laughed really hard at that video! I think it sounds terrible! :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: I TOTALLY AGREE!

And what is with those things covering their eyes???

ANSWER: IT WAS - FOR GOOD REASONS - MEANT TO COVER THEIR EARS (AS WELL)!! :laugh3::D:lol:

And if we had been warned we would have covered our ears too or not listened at all? :laugh3::D:lol:

But what about the man who was to evaluate their performances? He was crying - tears running down his cheeks? If only it had been because he too couldn't bear to hear this beautiful song exposed to these people singing it as a canon?

Ugh! What a dreadful piece of shit! A couple of those girls sound absolutely out of their depth singing this song, turning it into another trashy pop song. One word - SHIT
