SHORT-tempered Scots swear more than any other Britons - and that's a ******* fact, a poll revealed yesterday.

About 15 per cent admitted turning the air blue when arguing with call centre staff. Londoners were second in the foul-mouthed league, with 12 per cent confessing to losing it with "inappropriate language".

The Welsh are most likely to hang up in a huff. Those in the Midlands and South are least patient, with 61 per cent ringing off without managing to speak to anyone. And men are twice as likely to swear as women.

The survey was conducted for software specialists Corizon by YouGov. Corizon's Emma Chablo said: "We may react differently but one thing's for sure - a great many of our interactions with call centres are frustrating."

The poll found call centre staff working for telecoms companies are rated the worst for customer service.

Banks and insurers come next, followed by internet providers, gas and electricity firms, government departments and retailers.
