September 19, 201015 yr Of course people are perfectly entitled to "bash" Coldplay, even on here. However, you have to question the motives of anyone who wants to sign up to a COLDPLAY forum just to bash the band, as there are countless other boards out there for Gargoyle, Bieber etc. There might well be non-Coldplay fans on here, which is fine, but they should always bear in mind why this messageboard exists and why the vast majority of people will have signed up to it.;) I can't stand the likes of Gargoyle or Bieber, but it would never even cross my mind to sign up to one of their forums just to slag them off.:dozey:
September 19, 201015 yr The whole point to the article is not 'How DARE you criticise Coldplay they are bullet proof!' It's more of a dig at the individuals out there who use such pathetic arguments for hating such a band like having a go at Chris Martin's daughters name or the fact they started off as a well off middle class band etc. The criticisms are personal. Not anything to do musically. Some people don't seem to realise the point of the thread though and just take it as an article condemning any criticism towards Coldplay. And also the article is largely about Coldplay. People on Coldplaying WANT to read about Coldplay would you believe it!

It happens. I loved, loved, the band when I signed up, but just got tired of them. I still like them, but not as much as I used to. What kind of bashing do you even mean?

If people don't like Coldplay any more, I'm surprised they even want to stick around.;)
September 19, 201015 yr Everyone has their own taste and no one can change that, nor should we ever try to. Agreed.
September 20, 201015 yr People can dislike Coldplay, but atleast have a logical explanation to back it up. I don't want to hear that they're middle-class. I don't want to hear that Chris Martin doesn't smoke, drink or eat meat. I don't want to hear that they're polite and charitable. Because those are the dumbest fucking reasons ever to hate on someone. If you're not a fan of their music.. fine. It's your prerogative. But attacking them because they're not "rock n' roll" enough is retarded. perfect, completely agree:thumbsup:
September 20, 201015 yr Any kind of bashing, I would say. If people don't like Coldplay any more, I'm surprised they even want to stick around.;) Just so you obviously know, there are other sections to the forum than just the Coldplay section.
September 20, 201015 yr Just so you obviously know, there are other sections to the forum than just the Coldplay section. Maybe so, but the whole board is Coldplaying.com, therefore it is still reasonable to expect that the majority of people posting would be Coldplay fans in one form or another. I'm not saying that means everyone needs to talk about Coldplay or Coldplay-related themes, just that Coldplay bashing isn't likely to go down very well.;)
September 20, 201015 yr People can go ahead Hate Coldplay, I Hate some other artists but I'm not gonna waste my day going through all their Youtube vids posting nasty comments about them , A waste of time really. Too right even if Chris is sorta Middle class he don't show it he is one of the most down to earth people in the world.

September 20, 201015 yr i dont see why ppl become personal abt the lead singers and start bashing their bands. i hate thom yorke and bono but 6 of my all time favorite songs are of their bands. i just watch their videos i only listen to the songs:D.
September 20, 201015 yr My point is that Coldplay became the target of the haters because they just don't disguise the emotions in their songs. Oasis music says "It's cool. If you hate it you're not cool" Radiohead music says "It's complicated. If you hate it you don't understand it" Coldplay music says "It's emotional. If you hate it you're unemotional". That's all. In the people's mind emotional=vulnerable=weak. Everybody wants to seem strong and aggressive, especially mentally unsteady teens who spend their time writing abusive commentaries on YouTube. That's why it's become popular to despise Coldplay, as well as Sting and James Blunt, and not Oasis or Radiohead.

In fact, I would say Oasis's image put me off them a bit.;)
September 20, 201015 yr People suppress all of their emotions and it's deemed uncool if you listen to Coldplay/radiohead because the songs are emotional and have something that I Think everyone can relate to in one way or another.
September 20, 201015 yr In fact, I would say Oasis's image put me off them a bit.;) Well, that is just an exaggerated description, kind of general association, only to make an example. It's not working with anybody.
September 20, 201015 yr Any kind of bashing, I would say. If people don't like Coldplay any more, I'm surprised they even want to stick around.;) I mean as long as people are not resulting in childish name calling of the band like with other artists such as lady gargoyle, or bratney spears. I think that Coldplay should be open to somewhat of criticism.
September 20, 201015 yr Well, that is just an exaggerated description, kind of general association, only to make an example. It's not working with anybody. True, but Oasis did come across as rather "dirty"/rough/arrogant, whereas Coldplay are the opposite.;)
September 20, 201015 yr I mean as long as people are not resulting in childish name calling of the band like with other artists such as lady gargoyle, or bratney spears. I think that Coldplay should be open to somewhat of criticism. However, on a Coldplay forum, it should be constructive criticism only.;)
September 20, 201015 yr Right, I'm not just gonna sit here and called Chris Martin a prick, Coldplay is a bunch a pussies etc., but if i don't like their new album (whenever it comes out) I'm not gonna be saying it's amazing just to please people.
September 20, 201015 yr I Know Liam gallagher isn't the nicest person in the world But I Love Oasis and it's the music that counts.

Of course not. That's a different matter entirely.;) I Know Liam gallagher isn't the nicest person in the world But I Love Oasis and it's the music that counts. Ultimately, yes. I'm just saying that their generally "aggressive" persona didn't really appeal to me personally.
September 20, 201015 yr I really can't see why people prefer to waste time 'cursing' a band they don't like rather than admiring a band that they like. It's not a dictatorship, they can all exist at the same time :laugh3:
September 20, 201015 yr Very good article. I have wondered about the same question and I agree on many points. Interesting. Lafinion, i also think you have a good theory there. :) Right, I'm not just gonna sit here and called Chris Martin a prick, Coldplay is a bunch a pussies etc., but if i don't like their new album (whenever it comes out) I'm not gonna be saying it's amazing just to please people. That's the point and difference; you're not being a hater but brings constructive critizism.

I'm not saying that means everyone needs to talk about Coldplay or Coldplay-related themes, just that Coldplay bashing isn't likely to go down very well.;) Are you saying that Coldplay fans can't take criticism against Coldplay?
