Acoustic Pickup

Featured Replies

I recently bought an epiphone hummingbird artist and it's gorgeous and sounds really nice but i need to play it on stage so...

what kind of acoustic pickup recomend me?

I've heard that the soundhole pickups are not really good

so... please help me!

thanks a lot

ps. excuse my bad english :D

Best bet its to mic it while on stage via PA. Otherwise you could have an internal pickup installed, but thats somewhat risky depending on the skill of who's putting it in. Soundhole pickups are almost always a waste of money.

@xsarehardcorex, yes - using a mic is generally accepted as the best method for getting a true acoustic sound. But soundhole pickups do have their advantages in being relatively low-hassle and mobile.

If money is not an issue, go for the LR Baggs M1A, without question.

Coldplay uses it, as does Noel Gallagher. It's really good quality.

Incidentally, I just ordered a Fishman D01, http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fishman-ProNeoD01-Magnetic-Soundhole-Pickup?sku=303160

because it was on sale last weekend. I haven't received it yet but I'll be sure to report my findings with it. Hope it's good! :)
