Would You Die To Save Your Friends/Family?

Featured Replies

^No, I didn't mean that. I meant dedicating your whole life to try and find a cure.

In how many cases can one actually die to save someones life?

A better situation would be, would you give your life to save someone else's?

It's a different question.

ah now I see what you mean. Good point.

^I don't mean dying. I mean giving your life to something useful that could help save someone's life. Like spending your whole life trying to cure disease or to look after someone with a disability.

Ignore my last post, it was too late.

That's a good question Bryce, I don't think I'd ever do it, tho

But much respect for those who do

I think LIVING for something or someone wholeheartedly is more difficult than dying for it/them.

Indeed. It requires a lot more effort on the occasion. Dying is so easy.

you mean a case like donate an organ right?

if is a bullet, and they appreciate you as much, yeah you'd save them but they'll feel bad cause you won't be there anymore.

I mean anything. And yeah I know but thing is, I feel like I care so much about them that I doubt they'd be able to care about me as much. That said, I think that yes, they would be sad, but they would know I did it for them and they'd keep on living and enjoying it so that my sacrifice wasn't in vain.

I can't think of many times where I have had the opportunity to take a bullet for someone for instance.

It's a different question. I would, say, give my life to cancer research if it meant I could save my best friend's life who had cancer.

Well yeah, cases like that are rare, but it's just a question as to what we would do if it happened.

And I think I'd try my best but if I am not capable of it well what can I do.. :\

oh, you and your Spanish/Hispanic spices :wink3:

Yes I would because well I would feel so guilty if I didn't and constantly blame myself

I honestly don't know. But anyway, I think it's quite easy to say "yeah, totally, I'd die for them". It would probably be different if it actually happened.

I have a feeling this matter is going to keep me from sleeping now though :disappointed:.

This board keeps me from sleep all the time. But that's just because I stay up too late posting

Me too. . . I think I would, but to be honest only for my close family. I wouldn't die for my friends, I don't know how to say that in a nicer way, but it's the truth.

Only for some people.

Like my best friend and my parents and such.

Scaphism?

Obviously this depends on the circumstances. Working on instinct (if it was a choice made without much thought, like a gunman bursts in etc) I would die for almost everyone apart from people I really dislike. If it's a straight choice of me or them, pressing a button then probably the same too sine the guilt afterwards would be enormous and I'd probably kill myself afterwards anyway, unable to cope with having led to their death.

If it's just I die, and if I don't then I never see them again but they don't die and I'd know they'd be OK then pretty much nobody.

Yes even scaphism

.....although if that was the case I'd probably try to figure out a way to cheat and kill myself quickly.

Same.

Yay for family, but for my real-life friends I have to think about it twice or more, because sometimes they tend to be a bunch of jerks :dozey:
