Drink a cup of coffee at 8 with dinner and still can't get to sleep 5 hours later.

Anyone have any tips on getting to sleep? I'm on my iPod, I'm not sitting in front of a computer or something. Ive tried listening to Parachutes, In Rainbows, watching MST3K, everything that usually helps me sleep. :bomb:

No luck, obviously. ;_;

Listen to some post-rock music. :anxious:

For me, I start imagining a story or something and slowly drift to sleep.

Or you could read Biology or History.

Just stay up the rest of the night, who needs sleep? :cheesy:

No, don't do that. I did that last night and now my sleeping patterns are fucked. :disappointed:

Read a book maybe?

I'll try that Ly.

And Kelsie, turning on the lights messes with me more than reading a book would help. :\

Gah, I have to get up in 4 and a half hours and I'm one of those people that needs lots of sleep.

I say try to like mentioned listen to some post rock or ambient music.

Give Jonsi & Alex's album Riceboy Sleeps a listen... I often go to sleep to that.

Or also watch some old black and white movie or tv show (like the twilight zone)... I find that sort of gets me a little sleepy.

I don't have Riceboy Sleeps but I do have some Sigur Ros, I'll listen to that. And MST3K is basically like Twilight Zone but it's some guys/robots making fun of old movies. One of my fav shows, but went off the air about a decade ago. :wacky: usually helps me sleep though.

Thanks for the help everyone, but my battery is dying. :sad:Hopefully I'll get SOME sleep tonight, haha. :P

Warm milk with a little honey.

Warm milk with a little honey.

That's what my Biology teacher told my class to do too. :surprised:

I had pretty much the same problem.

the thing is that whenever i have to wake up early, like 8am, i go to sleep at midnight thinking, oh thats cool, i'll have 8 hours to sleep. then i roll in the bed for an hour thinking, thats ok, i still have 7 hours to sleep. one hour later it like oh crap, only six hours to sleep and i start worrying. and finally i fall asleep at 6am and have 3hours to sleep.

after few times like that i decided not to give a crap how many hours i have left to sleep and think that i'll have less hours to sleep now, i'll survive the day and then i'll sleep like a baby the next night.

I have learned not to drink coffee after 7pm and eat after 9pm. i cant listen to music just before going to bed cause the last song that i listen gets stuck in my head and it doesnt matter how much i love that song is it gets really annoying.

just try not to think about anything that makes you worry. Like Ly said, imagine a little story in your head, think about something thats dear to your heart, what makes you relax.

:-)

It's what my mom used to make us when we were kids. Still make it for myself. Not sure why, but it usually works like a charm!

Read a History book.

There was this frontman of a band, he suggested that insomaniac to try listening to

Goldberg Variations by Bach...

Oh and when I want to sleep I listen to Insomnia by Faithless. It doesn't help me sleep but it compliments my mood perfectly.

I wasn't stressed out over anything, which is usually what keeps me up at night.

I didn't have anything to study, I only had some geometry homework, which I finished Thursday, and then a snow day on Friday. . . so nothing to do over the weekend.
