I like Joanna Newsom, Anais Mitchell, Kate Bush and WarPaint, so yeah. Definitely don't have trouble with female singers.

The only female singer I really like, because there are artists that are female that I listen to, but that I say "danm she sings amazing" would be Victoria Legrand, but she doesn't have much of a girly voice so I guess not.

And Lady Gaga.

It's not a question of listing your favourite and least favourite female singers. That would be like me saying all male singers were bad because I heard Liam Gallagher sing.

Most bands tend to have male frontmen, this means more bands have male singers, this means you're more likely to find a male singer that you actually like. Whereas the opposite is true for female, there are less female singers in bands therefore you're less likely to find a female singer you like.

This could be incorrectly misinterpreted as disliking female singers, but it's just probability.

My point was that those singers all have very distinct voices.

I just hate that female singers often go out of their normal voices and try to be amazing. you know? that's the reason i hate Florence Welsh. It seems like she's trying to hard. It hurts my ears.

But yeah, don't hate female singers, just extremely dislike them :uhoh:

I don't generally seem to like female vocals

Gaga hurts my ears with her normal voicewithout having to try at all!

so true.

btw, talking about annoying high pitch voices there's also male vocalist that can sound so bad, but still people may like them, is a matter of personal likes, it doesn't imply one is sexist for that.

plus as you said most bands have a frontman-vocalist who is male, there's few females, and more in rock scene. (c'mon don't everybody saw the nme nominee list of best vocalists and only less than 10% there were female).

sexist would be to totally hate female vocalist or male vocalist and no listen them at all just for the fact they are women or men.

so true.

For example Mika, who sings like a woman!:P

True. It should only be because they're awful, irrespective of their gender.;)

ouch....... too Jonas has an annoying high pitch voice is okay :dozey:

I can compensate with my annoying high pitch voice. no more need to hear and distinguish one voice. bah is so simple .

edit : Mika is a fantastic singer

I think the hole thing is kinda sad, It just feels like Female singers need to be sexist just because they should become popular, And it's extremely hard for a girl to become a popular singer, cause she need to be a sexicon just cause pepole wouldn't listen to her . Did you understand?.. :/

yes,

but be popular doesn't mean to be good, and the other way.

and btw i think the same argument happen with male, when a band succed it also takes a part their looks not just their message and musical spirit. is not the first male band that is blamed to succed because they have nice looks, more than do a good music.

but true if you mainly refer to pop divas, yeah seems top of everything shall be the looks that shall fill the standard of perfect beauty prior to the music.

anyways it all depends on everyone's likes, no reason to fight for that.

example, women moderns and perfects

but not know if the character Lady Gaga or not will know

you mean those are good or bad female vocalist?

I'm not a music specialist to judge, but others women sings better, an example Christina Aguilera and many others

an voice must crying, called the emotion, and there are voices that do not have much expressions or so rigids or so perfects to be empty of emotion because is as a music school ect... I do not know if it's the character or I do not know.

i think there's no music specialists here... we are just saying our opinions.

probably the only song i like of her, poweful in all ways, if no autotune, she has an awesome voice.

of the pop divas i only mostly like is Monica Naranjo, for her powerful voice, is a proven soprano.

and about Mika, i kinda like him, a good artist to cheer up when one is feeling down.

omg me too, i like her and all but I can't listen to so much because it just starts to hurt my head.

For example Mika, who sings like a woman!:P

Exactly! Funny I despise the majority of popular female singers, even though I sing, lol. It's about the quality, not the gender, but I tend to prefer more males in my music catalog.

Most of the male singers I like have a wider vocal range than most women though...hmmm,lol.

Are you familiar with PJ Harvey?

I used to hate them all. Now some of them are growing on me.

I am more tolerant of bitches now.

One word. ICK.

I actually LOVE her. Probably not the right thread to admit that...

No, it's fine. I personally don't like her, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
