You know, Caroline, you've sparked something in my head.

I think a lot of people think she's a murderer because she's a liar. She has lied about everything pertaining to this case. Therefore, people have this mentality of, "Well, since she's lied about everything else, surely she's lying about this, too." While that makes perfect logical sense, the thing is, you can't convict someone of murder just because of that. This is what the defense has said the whole time, and I think I understand for the first time what people who are on the other side of this case were trying to convey to all of us who were (and still are, some of us) convinced that she was (is) guilty as sin. As much sense as it seems to make to us to convict someone based on something like that, it's not enough, and honestly, it skews a person's view on things. I'm sure at least some of the jury FELT like she did something, but they couldn't prove it because there wasn't enough hard evidence to substantiate it.

I've probably repeated way too many things that have already been stated in this

thread, but I thought I'd share. No matter how much we feel that she's guilty, it's not

enough. Does the verdict mean she's not guilty? Not necessarily; it merely means she

can't be convicted of it. Like Carrie mentioned earlier in this thread, being "not guilty"

doesn't make you "innocent." At any rate, I think she's already been convicted in the

minds of most people, which still affects her life greatly. She's being pretty much

shunned from society because of all this. I think that despite the lack of a jail

sentence, she's still being punished.

At the end of the day, it doesn't change that the world lost a little girl way too soon.

Unfortunately the evidence they did have had been tampered with. She absolutely did it. I have a feeling she will be tracked for the rest of her life and eventually will be put in jail for something. She will get hers the way OJ did.

Tampered? How

There were claims that Caylee's remains had been moved and that things from the car had been altered in order to create a smell of a dead body.

Well, they're called "claims" because they're not "facts." That stuff was never substantiated.

On a completely different topic, I found it interesting how only the prosecution has "burden of proof." While I understand why that is (as the prosecution is the one pressing charges), I don't think that should excuse the defense from making up whatever story they want about how things really happened without proving it. That story about the drowning and the abuse is a load of crap. The defense couldn't even bring up the sex allegations in their closing statement because there was no substantial evidence to back up the claims he made.

Yeah, I found that to be ridiculous that they could accuse her father of molesting her, or that the baby drowned and her parents helped her cover it up. Even if she had been molested, that doesn't give her the right to kill her innocent child.

Just found out that during the jury deliberations, the jury originally voted 10 not guilty to 2 guilty for the first 2 counts (murder and child abuse).

The jury was originally split 6-6 for the third count of manslaughter. Obviously the not guilty people were persuasive (among which I'm assuming was the juror that had to leave for vacation).

edit: She's going to be released July 13th (next Wednesday).

edit 2: Scratch that, it's the 17th now.

I was just watching the local news and they were interviewing Dr. Werner Spitz the pathologist that testified during the trial basically indicating that the autopsy was botched. I didn't realize he lived here. Many people think his testimony was key in the not guilty verdict.

They shouldnt have jumped for the murder charge. They'd have probably gotten a guilty verdict on several charges surrounding neglect, abuse, etc... Sent her to jail and given police and the prosecution more time to put a nail in her coffin. It must be proof beyond a resonable doubt, not everything circumstantial leads to mom, even if everything circumstantial leads to mom. Should've learned that from OJ.

Knowing what I know of Dr. Garavaglia from her show "Dr. G: Medical Examiner," I don't see how she could botch anything. The woman is a genius.

Well, she didn't get convicted for any of those things, either, so your theory is invalid.

Also, the bolded part confuses me. What are you trying to say?

You're in the States now, Will? :cheesy: What all are you doing here?

Inmate wants to sue Anthony for Caylee's death

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - A South Carolina inmate has filed a petition against Casey Anthony seeking a DNA test to determine if he was the father of her 2-year-old toddler.

Christopher Umberger filed the petition in Orlando against Anthony, who was acquitted earlier this month of killing her daughter, Caylee.

Anthony is set to be released from jail on Sunday.

Umberger says in the court filing that he intends to sue Anthony for Caylee's death. He provided no details to back up his claim.

The petition was made public Friday as a separate hearing was held to determine if Anthony can be deposed for a defamation lawsuit before she leaves jail.

The hearing adjourned after only a few minutes when Judge Jose Rodriguez said he was recusing himself. He didn't explain why.
