My guess is their music would be far less poppy and wouldn't involve all this crap is she didn't have an influence. I KNOW I'm getting hate for this. And I KNOW most think she's just lovely, but musically, she was the worst thing to happen to Coldplay. There, I said it.

 

I think it's silly to blame Gwyneth, and here is why....

 

1. A while back on twitter, a Coldplay fan asked her what her favorite Coldplay songs were and her answer was "Death and All His Friends" and "Charlie Brown". IMO those are not pop. Most of the people complaining about Paradise still like Charlie Brown.

 

2. She didn't even get to hear the album until it was finished. If she actually had a say in the music they did, she wouldn't have been begging for a copy on twitter.

Yeah Jay Z is really bad for Chirs. He'll be out slinging crack on the mean streets if this LP doesn't do well.

 

He needs to get to influencing Will. Jay Zed owns a sporting team......and I keep begging for you to buy Southampton FC.......make it happen!

From what i am aware of Jay-Z and the rest of them do not have no influance over what COLDPLAY make. it was NOT Jay-z who asked rihanna to come on this album! it was purly up to coldplay! i mean everyone knows how the decisions made within coldplay work, if one person doesnt agree with it then its chucked outta the window, so i dont see how jay-z would come along and change all of that!

 

also whats happened to everyones opinion about CB, HLH, UATW? everyone seems to be passing judgement on how coldplay have "changed" as one (or two) songs dont sound like the normal Coldplay songs. Im glad they have taking risks, shows they not just staying in one place, rather then making the same old type of music cuz i know for a face id get bored of them if they kept on coming out with the same stuff!

Gwyneth did a leading role in Country Strong last year. It was not a huge money making movie.

Well I mean, she's the wife of the frontman.. she would have said a not so popular song from a popular album and a new song to market.

I'm not sure what a leading role has to do with it, but I know she doesn't do lead roles as much now because she doesn't want to be away from her kids.

 

By all accounts she seems to be an excellent mother.

It's not the fault of JayZ, Rihanna or Kanye West because they're talentuous! Homecoming was a fabulous song :dance:

she's a big salope without talent :lol:

They wrote their first four and got successful. That was good Coldplay.

 

Chris wants to write music in the vein of Paradise. Jay-Z never told him to write a song like dis because they did their own little version of Lost. Sure he's chilling with his fellow celebrities, but they don't really have that much of a say in it. If anyone's marginally close to blame, it's Brian Eno's actual hands-on influence on here.

 

Fair enough. I wouldn't say 'ruined' but yeah, it's a good point.

 

For me, Chris just never seemed to 'fit in' with that crowd, and seemed to be trying to hard to prove otherwise, but maybe that's just the 'old fan' in me...

OK, I don't think Jay-Z, Gwyneth or anyone else 'made' Chris do anything, but he's ended up in a group of people outside Coldplay that he's trying to live up to...and Gwyneth was his in with them, imo. Chris is acting like a kid bowing to peer pressure with some of the writing.

 

It's not bad music overall, but I can't help wondering what it would sound like if he didn't have those influences.
