Fun (feat Tove Lo)
I'm in disbelief that they don't play the whole album in the tour set. Army of One and Fun are two of the more radio friendly and stadium level tracks. Either they're planning it for down the road, in terms of timing it for single release, or they just are too shy to play them as they aren't well known. But, Birds is a decent song that most people don't know and they play it all the time. On Fun, love Jonny's riffs to open the song - he's such a master at it. Beautiful song with heart felt lyrics, and epic chorus. Same with Army of One.. perhaps we should start a petition.

Army of One
Went to 1st US show which was good (though think UK/European audiences and the set up is better). Still no Army of One except for the intro into Clocks - such a tease. It sounds so ethereal though. I would pay money for that outro. Also, Kaleidoscope's background instrumental, I think, is what played through the xylobands in Nice. It has jonny's guitar riffs/licks coupled with an ethereal synth sound... so soothing. Also would pay for that. I guess the instrumental sounds through xylobands didn't work out after the Nice show because they didn't have it for the Wembley shows, or even a speaker on the xylobands for the US show. oh well... but they need to bring the full song to regular setlist, rather than a tease.

Army of One
If Coldplay or PH are reading the forums, this song is massive. Glad I caught it in Nice, but they've put it away live for now which is an absolute shame. This track is amazing and Stargate did a great job with what they did with chris' vocals as it gives it a spin to the Coldplay sound. Beautiful lyrics combined with Jonny's guitar riffs, Will's synth drum beats and the Coldplay ambient sound. I think because it seems like more people haven't caught on to the song yet, they have relegated it to an outro/intro into Clocks - they need to figure a way out to fit into the set consistently. Fun as well, unless they are waiting to release these two singles down the road - because these two are the next best radio friendly tracks on the album. Up & Up is a great closer, and has a fantastic video, but the radio single edit just doesn't do it justice. I think it's first time they released a closing track as a single, unless I'm mistaken. Anyway, I love this song & hopefully PH or Coldplay read this and take it to heart. Also, try to play Swallowed in the Sea, Reign of Love, Talk, Miracles in the acoustic set if possible. Always in my Head tonight was fantastic.

[2016-06-26] Coldplay Headline Glastonbury 2016
How lucky! Congrats. I tried but overslept by a few minutes (i live in the US) and unfortunately did not get one. My dream was to get to the front for the coldplay set. I applied for volunteering but it looks like it's full. If there are any people in the know about Glastonbury. Is there any other way to get in the festival, or is pretty much locked at this point? I wish they sold it like other festivals where we can get tickets elsewhere but I guess for security sake they go through an elaborate and strict process. Any will try to see the band in Wembley if I can't get into Glastonbury.

[2016-06-26] Coldplay Headline Glastonbury 2016
Hey fellow Coldplayers.... long time Coldplayer here - been following Coldplay since 2000, and was fortunate enough to get to see them play the SuperBowl which was probably one of the best concert/entertainment moments of my life - I knew they would make it special and really included everyone with a beautiful message. Don't care what anyone said but Coldplay was the heart and soul of the show and true musicians. Bruno was a close second w/ those dance moves, and Beyonce was overrated needing fire and lights to distract. Regardless... Im a fan of Hymn for the Weekend. Anyway, I want to see Coldplay at Glastonbury as part of my bucket list (will try for one of the wembley dates as well). I was wondering if I could get some tips or help in trying to get a ticket - I've registered and am going to try for the resale today at 6p (BST) which is the coach and ticket package. Now I only want to go Sunday, but does the ticket entail the entire 4 days/nights, and is it hard to get transportation back and forth there. Are people camping, staying in hotels, etc. ? Also, would love to join fellow coldplayers as I plan to go solo... have london friends that unfortunately can't make it. Goal is to get to the front for Coldplay - I did it about 10 years ago at Coachella and it was amazing. Would love to see the boys in their homeland. I know it's going to be epic after what I experienced at the Super Bowl! Thanks in advance and Viva la Coldplay!

Up&Up To Become The Next Single From A Head Full of Dreams
Up & Up is too long and not really a radio single - it's a great album track and closer to the theme of the album. Fun would have been the next best single if they are already giving up on Hymn for the Weekend which I don't understand - they need to do another promo with Beyonce there - unless they don't like the negative publicity Beyonce has been getting for her anti-police song. Fun or Army of One are the two tracks that have some sort of radio potential with Fun being the most - I would have thought Everglow would be another one even though they did it as a promo single.

Plan The Ultimate Super Bowl Half-Time Show for Coldplay
I'm going to be going as I'm a diehard Coldplay fan, and to see them live playing the most watched event in the world is bucket list worthy. It's been a truly long journey of 4 guys from UCL to the biggest stage on the planet - I trust Phil will make sure things go appropriately epic. They should take cues from the live 2012 concert dvd- Charlie Brown would be epic but then again it's not necessarily a coldplay friendly audience. For sure - Viva, Sky Full of Stars, Adventure (promo for new song), Hymn is a given since Beyonce will be there, I'm assuming Uptown Funk will be played since Bruno will also be there. Clocks and Paradise will probably round out the 6 songs. I can't see how they fit in Fix You but then again fireworks at the end of that song may be a factor. I hope they do it right, regardless, this is the biggest tv audience they will ever have - it doesn't get any bigger.

Plan The Ultimate Super Bowl Half-Time Show for Coldplay
Ana - i'm planning on going to see Coldplay and... maybe the game :-)

SuperBowl 50
Hey Hadilley - I'm going to arrive in SF that weekend after a 2 week trip to Australia/NZ (i know i'm a nut) but im trying to go to the Super Bowl primarily for Coldplay - been following these guys since the beginning. This is so huge for them, and I hope they pull it off... they are one of the best live bands and bands.. period to come around in a generation. Let me know if you find any details regarding this, as I want to be a part of the audience for the show if possible too.

Guess The Singles
Well have listened to the album quite a lot and was thinking what would be the consensus for the next 3 to 4 singles Coldplay may release. Based on my opinion and an obvious choice - Hymn for the Weekend for sure. Given Beyonce guesting and the club vibe to it, it will be a sure fire single. Nuff said! They did release Everglow as a promotional single but I think it has that classic Coldplay ballad thing going and could be released as an official single. The 4th for me would be Fun. Great song with a singer known to much younger audiences and another Coldplay classic. As for the 5th if there were one - Army of One seems like another choice as I really like it. Not sure they would release AHFOD as a single for some reason. And Up & Up definitely a live concert closer than a single. Birds seems like a perfect album track but not single worthy in my opinion. Anyway, curious what others think about potential singles and why. Regardless, loving the album and can't wait to see it live.

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
I can say that I was not a big fan of this song off the bat. But as Coldplay are so brilliant, the song is infectious and grew on me. Jonny's guitar effects remind me of birds and has that ethereal quality coupled with Will and Guy's driving bass/drum rhythm - this song is great. Chris's vocal is interesting to boot, and the build to the end is so good, I wish it never stopped, but the abrupt end is unique for sure. Can't wait to hear this live.

A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)
FYI regarding lyrics: Chris is paraphrasing Gandhi when he sings "You can see the change you want to, be what you want to be" Perhaps more of the eastern spirituality they've embraced on this album and the Indian script and flower setup they have going. Same with Indian video filmed utilizing the traditions of Holi with all the colors. Here's the quote: Be the change that you wish to see in the world. Great song, love the ending piano (played by James Corden - j/k, well at least on his show he did). It's going to be massive in stadiums. A Head full of Dreams!
-
Fun (feat Tove Lo)
Jennifer Lawrence is a natural blond, he certainly has a type, it's obvious. That being said, this is one of my favorite songs off the album, love the buildup and lyrical flow w/ alterations - like a sonata. It's clear some of their old songs's lyrics showed up in this one (the one they gave to Natalie Imbruglia, i loved that version of Fun too)

Amazing Day
Amazing!! This is the coldplay I love - pure bliss. When they are on their game, their music takes you to another dimension of being. Thank god for this track, as this, Fun, AOAL, Everglow are saving this schizophrenic album. They need to stop trying to be friends with everyone and trying to include them on their albums (i.e. Beyonce, Obama (j/k about this one but that sample was pointless on Kaleidoscope which I liked a lot).
-
Hymn for the Weekend
MinceSpies - respectfully disagree. Princess of china is massive and a great driving beat. Hymn for the Weekend sounds like Chris desperately trying to be an R&B singer. Plus i guess he owed a favor to Jay-Z because Beyonce was avg at best on this track. Really disappointed in this one. Probably will be avg at best for me after a few more listens but the mix on this just irks me like no other.
-
Kaleidoscope
loved the piano and instrumentation, nice interlude, but I thought Obama's amazing grace was needless. totally diminished the vibe the track had going - total fail, will edit out that part for sure.
-
Fun (feat Tove Lo)
This is Coldplay!!! love this track - thank god because a lot of the other tracks (Birds, Hymn) were killing the album for me. Love the guitar, that atmosphere Coldplay creates and the vocals are great. For the hardcore fans, is the refrain "didn't we have fun" taken from the song they gave to Natalie Imbruglia? I loved that song they gave her - wish they did their own rendition of it. Regardless, outstanding track for me and a saving grace for me!
-
Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
I think this is avg Coldplay which is still decent, but not single worthy. This won't fly. Total Strokes vibe with a little Arcade Fire thrown in there for sure. Birds/Hymn for weekend are sort of filler for me for now.

Hymn for the Weekend
Heard this, and not a fan at first listen. Usually can trust Chris and especially Will signing off on songs, but this is just a mess, going to be a first track in a long time that I will be skipping (probably going back to AROBTTH with A Whisper, but at least that's them being them). This is like Lady Gaga's Jewelz and Chainz attempt at gangster rap, but more with a R&B bent. That chorus is terrible, with that bass line - ugh! 1 track in a long while is not bad track record in my opinion. Chris should have guested on this track with another artist. Princess of China had a great beat and drive with awesome guitar hook, this is... I just don't know what to say, Beyonce on the track didn't help either. The mixing/mastering is not the best either. Regardless, i'll need a few more listens, but not what I expected for sure.

Everglow
Oldplayer here - have had a few listens - agree w/ one of the posters - it has elements of all their eras in this song. To the classic piano lines, that Chris magically comes up from the parachutes/AROBTTH era with to x&y, mx like production effects (a la the submarine effect) & a GS introspective bent. I love the song, they keep me amazing and i've been listening to them from 2000 - I know people get upset with each album, but look at how amazing and different each album is, I love it, such variety of brilliance. The naysayers need to relax - this is quality work. Phil told me that they just want to be constantly inspired and they are by what music is evolving and how genres are blending. Let's enjoy the ride, because Coldplay always put 100% effort into each album. Look even Pitchfork had to come out and say my bad on X&Y, the one that everyone maligned them for. Pitchfork... the ultimate snobs of music. So give the boys some slack, and let's hear the whole album - regardless, I'm loving this song, and totally feeling the Everglow!

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
I ran away... hahahaha - i've been listening to these guys since 2000 - we are lucky to have them, they are a once in a generation talent that comes along like u2 did before them, and dare i say it the Beatles. Anyway, I go way back for sure, and each album continues to impress me for their evolution and just embrace of their love of different genres. I mean, they can practically do anything and add their Coldplay touch. Listening to miracles is just beyond amazing, but i can go back to For You and feel that same thing. They have a golden touch, and their chemistry as Chris states numerous times is what really makes them special with Chris the driving force. The highlight of meeting them was at the colbert report for mx tour - they were being bombarded by autograph hounds after the show. I was there with a first run Blue Room EP waiting for them to sign it - I felt so bad for them especially Jonny who was overwhelmed by the yelling for autographs by people who were just going to sell them online. Jonny saw my CD and immediately came over ecstatic and said "I'll sign that", and told Will and Chris to come over - who said I was a legit fan & they would gladly sign it. That was a great moment. Same show, I missed the other three as they walked in but was able to catch Chris to sign my Brothers and Sisters CD (another first run) & he said to me that's so old school man, where'd you find that? He was very gracious. These guys are so humble and grateful... We are blessed to have such a talented bunch without much of egos, relatively to the rock/music world. one last anecdote, had a chance to run into Phil after the letterman webcast and told him to tell the boys to keep embracing what they love and that mx sounded amazing despite all the old school coldplayers esp w/ regard to paradise, ETIAW - he said thank you and that he will pass it on to the guys. here we are 4 yrs later and they truly are just running with what they love. God bless Coldplay and thank heavens for Phil - he really is the Fifth Beat... err I mean Coldplayer Can't wait to hear the new album in full hi def glory next week - planning on going to the Wembley Stadium concert - have to see Coldplay in their home country - it's bucket list item for me.

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
Quick Reply: I think MX is a masterpiece - one of their greats and a concept/story album to boot. I can listen to MX straight through all the time. I also love GS as well - Always in my Head is one of their best openers and the album overall is totally a night album - peaceful, reflective. I can't get into it more for now, but just want to give out my love for the previous 2 albums, and I love Viva too. X&Y was a bit all over the map but it has amazing songs as well.

Amazing Day
I love this song! So Coldplay & Jonny just has a gift for riffs that's Mozart-esque. It kind of reminds me of Miracles, perhaps thanks to Stargate's production. I can't wait for this album, As i've said in the past - coldplay writes songs now that may not necessarily be immediate for all, but as you listen several times, your brain starts to pick up on the nuances and brilliance even in their simplicity. A Coldplay Effect a la The Mozart Effect. Regardles, I'm happy that the guys are in a good space, and creating music they want to create because at the end of the day that is art & to be embraced by millions if not at least a billion people in the world is the highest form of respect for their art. In Coldplay & PH we trust, Viva La Coldplay!!

A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)
Had a 1st listen to AHFOD - Total U2 homage - that guitar playing/riffing is Edge all the way. Like the aggressive bass/drum section - Guy is a beast on this album after hearing AOAL. Chris can't help the Whoa's on this album, it's all over the place. Sometimes it can be a bit cliche, but need to hear the studio version. It's a U2 homage song done with Coldplay flourishes, even the vocals are reminding me of Bono. It's got where the streets have no names with In' god's country strumming but again, with Coldplay's take. Honestly, wasn't too sure with AOAL but Coldplay has that gift of writing songs that grow on and show their brilliance to you as brain starts to understand the deeper levels and nuances of their songs. I love these songs. In Coldplay & PH we trust. Viva la Coldplay!
