Why Does The Band Call Themselves 'Coldplay' ?

Featured Replies

This is what i wondered all since i first heard of them.

It was the name of a poetry book Chris' university friend Tim had. Tim's band was initially using it and then when they dropped it, Chris asked if he could have it :)

The boys once said it doesn't mean anything, and I guess they just liked the name :)

okay then i know enough,thanks.

I've read somewhere that it meant harsh play or something similar

In radio speak a "cold play" is when a DJ plays a new record for the first time. His listening audience is hearing it "cold".

Sorry for lame bump.

"It's the name of a special type of breeze that blows across the mountains."

Yes what does it mean for a game to be cold and can we even be seen to know it for ourselves?

Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing that bit, Angie. :nice:
